That means a Windows PC, Mac, or Linux computer is not an officially supported platform for Violet. If you want to play the game as Pokémon currently lists it, use a Nintendo Switch-family system.
Does Pokémon HOME let you play Violet on PC?
No. Pokémon HOME is a companion service for keeping Pokémon in one place and moving them between compatible games; it is not a PC edition of Violet. Pokémon lists Scarlet and Violet among the games supported by HOME, but says compatibility with Nintendo Switch titles is limited to the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME on its HOME page.

Pokémon announced on June 1, 2023 that HOME could link with Scarlet and Violet and allow Pokémon to move between compatible games. A Pokémon can only be moved to a game in which that Pokémon appears; HOME does not let you launch or play Violet on a computer. See the compatibility announcement for details.
Can you play Violet on Nintendo Switch 2?
Yes, Nintendo Switch 2 is a console route, not a PC release. On June 5, 2025, Pokémon announced a free update optimizing Scarlet and Violet for Nintendo Switch 2, with improved image quality and frame rate. The announcement describes an update for that console; it does not add PC support. Details are on the official announcement.

Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.

- The game: Pokémon Violet for Nintendo Switch.
- Supported hardware: a Nintendo Switch-family system, including the Nintendo Switch 2 route described in Pokémon’s update announcement.
Pokémon’s official sources identify the supported platform but do not establish a supported PC emulator or guarantee that any unofficial PC setup will work. Treat third-party claims about PC compatibility as unofficial rather than as an alternative endorsed by Pokémon.
