If Company of Heroes 3 is crashing or freezing on PS5, start with the fix that matches where it fails: Relic’s campaign workaround is to load an earlier manual or autosave and try to bypass the affected issue or turn. For other problems, Relic recommends verifying the installed game files or reinstalling; PlayStation’s additional Safe Mode guidance applies specifically to launch error CE-109573-5, not every crash.
These ten steps combine documented troubleshooting, practical diagnosis and escalation—not ten guaranteed CoH3-specific fixes. Follow the relevant steps rather than treating them as a promise that every crash has the same cause.

10 checks and fixes for Company of Heroes 3 crashing on PS5

Identify when the crash happens
Note whether the game fails on launch, during a match, or when loading a particular campaign turn. Record any PS5 error code shown on screen. This is diagnostic advice, not a Relic-documented repair, but it helps you choose the relevant steps and explain the issue to support.

Fully restart the PS5

Load an earlier campaign save
If the crash or freeze occurs in the single-player campaign—especially around the same turn—load an earlier manual or autosave. Relic advises returning to an earlier save and trying to bypass the issue or turn. This is the clearest CoH3-specific workaround in the developer’s Console Edition troubleshooting FAQ.

Check for a PS5 system software update
For CE-109573-5, PlayStation advises updating system software if the problem continues. Check the console’s system software settings for an available update. This guidance is tied to that error code; the source does not establish it as a universal remedy for CoH3 crashing.

Verify installed game files or reinstall
Relic’s FAQ recommends verifying installed game files or uninstalling and reinstalling the game if a campaign problem persists. The FAQ does not provide a PS5 menu path for file verification, so use that option only if it is available for your installation; otherwise, reinstall the game. PlayStation also includes deleting and reinstalling for CE-109573-5. Reinstalling is not a guarantee that a recurring save or game issue will be fixed.

Rebuild the database only for the specified launch error
If the PS5 shows CE-109573-5 and the earlier steps have not helped, PlayStation recommends rebuilding the database in Safe Mode. Follow PlayStation’s Safe Mode instructions for that procedure. Do not treat database rebuilding as a first-line or CoH3-specific fix for crashes without that error.

Test whether an earlier save bypasses a repeatable campaign problem
For a crash that returns at a particular campaign point, compare an earlier save with the affected one and see whether you can progress past the troublesome turn. This applies Relic’s documented workaround; it does not establish why the save or turn is failing.

Keep a concise record of the failure
Before contacting support, note the error code, whether the problem is in the campaign or another mode, when it occurs, and which troubleshooting steps you tried. This is practical reporting advice, not a formal Relic procedure.

Contact PlayStation support if the issue persists
Relic directs players with unresolved console performance or technical problems to the relevant platform support team. For a PS5-wide or persistent technical issue, contact PlayStation Support and share the details you recorded.

Set expectations about future updates
Relic Staff’s FAQ, updated June 6, 2025, says the studio will “no longer be releasing further updates for the Company of Heroes 3 Console Edition.” The same FAQ says the edition remains available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; Relic’s statement is not a promise that a future patch will address a crash.

SEGA Support says Relic is no longer part of the SEGA brand and directs inquiries about other Relic game support to Relic’s support site.
