Yes. In GTA 5 Story Mode, drive a stolen car into a protagonist’s available garage to store it. That is not the same as GTA Online’s persistent vehicle ownership and recovery system, and a stored car can still be at risk in some situations.
How to keep a stolen car in Story Mode
- Choose the car you want to keep and drive it to an available garage belonging to the protagonist you are playing.
- Park the car inside the garage so it is stored there; stealing or modifying a car alone does not make it a permanently protected personal vehicle.
- Save your game after storing it. A save is sensible protection for your progress, but it is not a guarantee that the vehicle can never be lost.
The garage-storage approach is described in the GTA Wiki garage reference and player discussions. Exact behavior can vary with mission, save state, and other circumstances.

What can happen to a stored car?
Community reference material lists mission transitions, police commandeering, distance, and loading a save among circumstances in which a stored car may be lost or moved. Treat these as risks, not outcomes that happen every time. The available references do not establish a universal rule for every platform, version, mission, or save state.
If the car goes missing, check the impound lot at Mission Row. The Personal Vehicles reference describes impound retrieval for a fee when a protagonist is busted or wasted near a personal vehicle. That does not mean every destroyed, abandoned, or missing stolen car will be waiting there.

How this differs from a protagonist’s personal vehicle
Each protagonist has a primary vehicle: Franklin’s Buffalo S, Michael’s Tailgater, and Trevor’s Bodhi. These are built-in character vehicles, unlike a random car stolen and stored in a garage. The community reference describes the primary vehicles and impound behavior, but a stolen car should not be assumed to have the same persistence or recovery options.
