You can break down items during an Arc Raiders raid. Embark calls the mechanic “Field Recycling,” but the in-raid menu uses “Salvage.” Open an item’s details and choose that option; check the materials shown before confirming, because the item is consumed.
How to salvage an item during a raid
- Open your inventory and select the item you want to break down.
- Open its details or item menu. Shacknews reports that the menu can be opened with the right mouse button on keyboard, or Triangle on PlayStation 5 and Y on Xbox.
- Choose “Salvage” from the in-raid menu. Embark’s Help Center describes the action as opening the item’s details and selecting “Recycle.” Labels and controls can vary by platform or update, so follow the option shown on screen. - Review the materials listed in the salvage screen, then confirm only if you are sure you no longer need the item.
Should you salvage it Topside or wait for Speranza?
The main trade-off is convenience versus material yield. An unofficial ARC Raiders community wiki reports that in-raid salvage returns 50% of the usual components, compared with 100% for recycling in Speranza. Embark’s official help page confirms Field Recycling but does not state those percentages, so treat the yield comparison as community-reported rather than an official guarantee. - Salvage during the raid if you need the inventory space or materials immediately.
- Wait until Speranza if maximizing the reported component return matters more than freeing space now.
Check the item before confirming
Salvaging consumes the original item. Before you confirm, consider whether it is needed for a quest or workshop upgrade, or whether selling it for coins is a better use. The salvage screen’s materials preview helps you see what you would receive, but it does not replace checking the item’s other uses. Shacknews
