Yes, you can be sanctioned for breaking Rocket League’s rules while using BakkesMod, but Epic does not say that using BakkesMod by itself automatically earns a ban. Its policy allows third-party mods only when they meet its restrictions, and it does not promise that any named mod is exempt from enforcement. A major change took effect on April 28, 2026: PC online play requires Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), and community mods will not run while EAC is enabled.
What can get a player sanctioned?
Epic’s policy is conditional: a third-party mod must comply with the Epic Games Terms of Service. It must not:
- Give a competitive advantage in online play.
- Expose unreleased features or content.
- Interfere with, exploit, or abuse Rocket League services.
Epic says, “Rocket League does not officially support the use of third-party software.” It does not identify BakkesMod as officially approved or guarantee that using it is risk-free. The relevant question is whether the mod and the way it is used comply with the rules—not simply whether the software is called BakkesMod. Epic’s third-party mod guidance explains the restrictions and warns players to use mods at their own risk.
How EAC changes BakkesMod use on PC
Rocket League’s April 28, 2026 announcement says Easy Anti-Cheat is required for online play on PC and that “Community mods will not run when EAC is enabled.” This is a compatibility rule as well as an important practical boundary: do not expect community mods to work in an EAC-enabled online session. Read the Rocket League EAC announcement.

| Play context | EAC state | Can community mods run? |
|---|---|---|
| Online play on PC | Required and enabled | No. Community mods do not run with EAC enabled. |
| Training, offline or LAN matches, and replay viewing | Off | These are the contexts Epic describes for using compliant mods with EAC off; the general mod restrictions still apply. |
| Steam Workshop maps | With or without EAC | Epic says Workshop maps can run either way. Turn EAC off if layering mods over Workshop content. |
Epic’s guidance about training, offline, LAN, and replay use is not a blanket exemption from enforcement. EAC compatibility and rule compliance are separate issues: turning EAC off may allow mods to run in the described contexts, but it does not make a prohibited mod or use compliant. See Epic’s instructions for using EAC in Rocket League.
Updates can cause crashes
Epic warns that Rocket League may crash when mods are in use. After a game update, disable mods until their creator has updated them; an incompatible mod can cause technical problems even when the player is using it in a permitted context. Epic’s third-party mod support page includes this precaution.

Epic says sanctions are assessed individually. Depending on the severity, a ban may be temporary or permanent. Its support guidance says temporary Code of Conduct bans may last up to 30 days; permanent bans are typically associated with serious violations such as cheating or repeated misconduct. These are general sanction details, not a prediction of what would happen in a particular BakkesMod case. Epic’s Rocket League ban guidance explains the process.
If the notice says the ban was applied by EAC, Epic directs players to the Easy Anti-Cheat appeal site and says to include the reference ID shown in the ban notification. Follow the appeal instructions for that specific notice rather than assuming every Rocket League ban uses the same route.
