No—not through vanilla natural spawning. Zombies can spawn with armor, but netherite is not part of their natural armor pool. If you see a zombie wearing netherite, it got the gear another way, such as picking it up or being equipped by a command or custom setup.
What counts as a natural spawn?
A natural spawn is a zombie generated by the game’s ordinary mob-spawning rules, rather than one equipped afterward. The Minecraft Wiki’s zombie entry says zombies cannot naturally spawn with netherite armor. Its discussion of armor spawning concerns armor generally; it does not give a netherite spawn chance.
So a zombie appearing in netherite does not show that netherite is available in the natural equipment pool. There is no supported netherite probability to quote for naturally spawned zombies.
How can a zombie end up wearing netherite?
The armor’s appearance alone cannot tell you how the zombie got it. Consider these possible sources:

- Equipment pickup: A zombie may pick up equipment in the world. The Minecraft Wiki’s reinforcement entry discusses pickup separately from natural gear generation.
- Special spawners or creator configurations: A setup can supply equipment beyond what ordinary natural spawning provides. A Mojang Java Edition issue record, created June 24, 2024, and resolved June 27, 2024, documents zombies from ominous trial spawners receiving special armor alongside naturally generated armor. It does not specifically test netherite.
- Commands or other custom changes: These can equip a mob directly, so the resulting zombie is not evidence of natural netherite spawning.
Does the answer differ by edition?
The material-specific statement in the available references is from the Minecraft Wiki. The Mojang issue concerns Java Edition and illustrates how special spawner equipment can coexist with natural armor; it is not a cross-edition test of netherite spawning.
Microsoft’s Bedrock spawn-rules documentation, last updated January 28, 2026, describes configurable creator rules, including conditions such as difficulty. It does not provide a definitive list of vanilla Bedrock zombie armor materials. The evidence here therefore supports the practical answer for vanilla natural spawning, not a detailed cross-edition or version-by-version armor table.

Why might a naturally spawned zombie still have armor?
Zombies can naturally spawn wearing armor other than netherite. The chance varies with difficulty and regional difficulty in the Java Edition figures reported by the Minecraft Wiki, but those figures apply to armor generally—not to netherite. They should not be used to calculate a netherite chance.
