A secondary guide published July 24, 2025, says kills, damage, and challenges in the Warzone pregame warm-up do not carry over as persistent weapon XP. Activision confirms that weapons progress through gameplay, but its published guidance does not specifically confirm the warm-up rule.
Why pregame warm-up activity does not count
The pregame warm-up is a temporary space before the main match, not a dependable way to make persistent weapon progress. CyberPost’s July 24, 2025 guide says the warm-up’s kills, damage, and challenges are wiped when the match begins. That specific claim comes from a secondary source, not an explicit Activision rule: Activision’s progression guidance explains how weapon leveling works in game modes but does not spell out what happens to warm-up activity.
Activision says weapons gain progression when used in a game mode, including Warzone. Its official guidance supports earning weapon progression through gameplay, but it does not establish that pregame warm-up actions qualify.
Use Plunder to level a weapon instead
Activision’s Warzone: How to Play guide identifies Plunder as a respawn-enabled mode where players can use a custom loadout. It specifically recommends bringing a weapon you want to level, making Plunder a better-supported option than the pregame lobby.

Bootcamp has limited progression
Activision describes Warzone Bootcamp as having limited Player, Weapon, and Battle Pass XP progression. Its guide does not quantify that limit, so do not assume Bootcamp grants the same weapon XP as other modes or a particular amount per action.
What may change with updates
Activision Support’s Warzone page listed the Black Ops 7 / Warzone Season 06 update dated September 17, 2026. That current-season context does not confirm the pregame XP rule. If a playlist or game update changes how progression works, check the current in-game behavior rather than relying on the older secondary guide’s warm-up explanation.
