Its unusual look and strategic combat are the draw; vehicle-oriented controls and a demanding opening are the main reasons some players may not stick with it.
What kind of game is Brigador?
Steam describes Brigador: Up-Armored Edition as a single-player isometric action game set in the science-fiction city of Solo Nobre, where mercenary pilots fight through combat missions. It is not simply a mech shooter: the vehicle you choose, its weapons, and how you approach a fight all shape the experience.
The official Steam listing advertises 56 vehicles, 40 weapons, fully destructible environments, 37 Campaign missions, and more than 20 maps in Freelance mode. Those options give the game room for experimentation, while destruction makes the battlefield itself part of the action. See Steam’s current feature and mode listing.
Is Brigador worth playing if you like mech games?
It is a strong fit for players who enjoy learning a specialized combat system and making deliberate tactical choices. Its appeal lies in the combination of vehicle selection, loadout planning, positioning, and environmental destruction, rather than in immediately intuitive controls or a gentle first mission.

PC Gamer’s review characterized that balance as “Beyond a fairly daunting control and difficulty curve, Brigador is a gorgeous isometric shooter with a remarkable level of strategy.” That is the review’s assessment, not a claim that every player will find the same balance or that it reflects every subsequent update. GameSpot scored the game 7/10 in its 2016 review and described the first mission as a maelstrom even after tutorials introduce basic controls and mech abilities. The opening can therefore feel like a sharp test of what you have learned, rather than a long, low-pressure onboarding period. Read GameSpot’s review.

Are the controls too difficult?
They may be, if you expect a mech game to feel familiar from the first minutes. The published reviews flag both vehicle controls and the difficulty curve as substantial friction. The available evidence does not establish that the controls are universally bad or that the challenge is unfair; it does establish that ease of entry is not the game’s clearest strength.
Before buying, watch gameplay to see whether the pace and vehicle handling appeal to you, and check the game’s control options if control feel is a deciding factor. If you enjoy studying a game’s systems and adapting after a rough start, that same learning curve may be part of the attraction. If you want instantly comfortable controls or a forgiving introduction, it is a meaningful risk.

Which edition or store should you check?
Steam and GOG both list the game, but do not assume their packages contain identical extras. GOG’s listing distinguishes Standard and Deluxe content, including soundtrack volumes and audiobook material; check the live product page for the current package details. Prices, discounts, and regional availability can change, so confirm them at checkout rather than relying on an old price reference.
The game’s Steam listing includes Windows, macOS, and SteamOS/Linux builds, along with minimum system requirements. Steam cautions that modern Mac machines may require extra steps. Compatibility can depend on the specific setup, so consult the live listing before purchasing. Check GOG’s current editions and included content.

What do player reviews say?
At the time of the cited Steam snapshot, 94% of roughly 3,900 English-language user reviews were positive. That is a changing Steam-only sentiment measure, not a critic consensus, sales estimate, or count of everyone who has played the game. Steam’s listing is the place to check the live figure.
As with the critic reviews, that positive snapshot sits alongside a clear caveat: Brigador is likely to reward players who value strategy and presentation enough to work through challenging controls and an intense opening. It is less compelling for someone whose priority is immediate accessibility.
