Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is easiest to recommend to players who missed the original. Its inventive Skillshot combat still stands out, but the campaign story is unchanged, so returning players should decide whether updated visuals, extra modes and multiplayer content justify another run.
What do reviews say about Full Clip Edition?
GameSpot reviewer Scott Butterworth scored the 2017 release 8/10, or “Great.” He praised its central combat idea, weapons and distinctive writing, while noting that some campaign elements feel dated and that the remaster offers little new for longtime fans. Butterworth summed up the appeal this way: “the skillshot system remains wildly fun and inventive, the weapons are still a gruesome joy, and the writing…well, it’s as distinctive as ever.” Read GameSpot’s review.

What does Full Clip Edition add?
The campaign story and content remain unchanged from the original Bulletstorm. The remaster’s case rests on visual updates, multiplayer content and additional modes rather than a new story. GameSpot lists six new Echoes maps, four more Echoes maps and three Anarchy maps that had previously appeared as DLC, as well as Ultimate Echoes and Overkill Mode.
PlayStation’s product description presents the package as including existing add-ons alongside new Full Clip content. It lists 30 competitive score-challenge maps and 12 cooperative maps. Those totals describe different kinds of play, not 42 campaign missions. See the PlayStation product listing.
#1 Best Overall
- Updated Visuals: Fully remastered with updated models, environments, and animations, with 4K support on PS4 Pro
- Updated Visuals: Fully remastered in 4K where supported with updated models, environments, and animations
- Upgraded FPS: Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition runs at a smoother framerate than ever before on all platforms
- New 'Overkill' Campaign Mode: After completing the campaign, players can start up an 'Overkill' campaign that has all weapons and skill shots unlocked from the start
- 6 New Echo Maps and Remastered audio effects
Why does the combat still stand out?
Skillshots reward players for creative kills rather than simply eliminating enemies. Weapons support that approach, encouraging experimentation with how to dispatch opponents. GameSpot identifies this system as the game’s defining strength and says it remains enjoyable in Full Clip Edition.
That combat hook carries into modes beyond the campaign, but the experience differs by mode:

Is it worth it for a new player or a returning owner?
| Player | What matters most | Review-based verdict |
|---|---|---|
| New to Bulletstorm | The complete original campaign, Skillshot combat and the included modes | GameSpot recommends it to people who missed the original; the core combat still feels distinctive. |
| Returning owner | Visual improvements, Overkill Mode and the additional multiplayer content | Consider it if those additions are enough reason to replay the unchanged campaign; GameSpot says there is little else new for longtime fans. |
Which platform and edition should you check?
Make sure the store page names the edition you intend to buy. PlayStation’s US listing identifies Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition as a PS4 game released April 7, 2017; it says the PS4 version can be played on PS5, with some PS4 features potentially absent. The listing also warns that online features may be terminated at any time, so check the current storefront and service status if multiplayer is important to you.
ESRB lists Full Clip Edition for Windows PC, PS4 and Xbox One. A GameSpot franchise platform list also includes Nintendo Switch, but the Switch release is titled Duke of Switch Edition; do not assume it is the same SKU as Full Clip Edition. Check ESRB’s edition record.

PlayStation’s listing includes a Duke Nukem Bundle selector and a separate Duke Nukem’s Bulletstorm Tour character add-on. GameSpot says the Duke character replaces Grayson Hunt through the campaign and uses reworked lines voiced by Jon St. John, while other characters’ dialogue is substantially unchanged. The review treats this as fan service, not a gameplay overhaul.
