Yes—Sigma’s Kinetic Grasp can absorb some ultimate-associated projectiles that enter its field, but that does not mean it cancels every ultimate or removes all of its effects. The key is the incoming object: Kinetic Grasp absorbs projectiles in front of Sigma, not ultimates simply because they are ultimates.
How Kinetic Grasp interacts with ultimates
Blizzard describes Kinetic Grasp as an ability that absorbs projectiles in front of Sigma and converts them into extra health. That projectile-based rule—not an ultimate’s status—determines whether an incoming object may be absorbed. See Blizzard’s Sigma hero page.

When using it, face the incoming projectile and activate Kinetic Grasp as it approaches. The result depends on the specific ability interaction. Absorbing a projectile does not by itself establish that every later or continuing effect of its ultimate will disappear.
Which ultimate projectiles can Sigma absorb?
A historical community testing report names three examples: Zarya’s Graviton Surge, Hanzo’s Dragonstrike arrow, and Mei’s Blizzard projectile. These are reported examples from community testing, not a current, comprehensive compatibility list published by Blizzard. The report is available at r/OverwatchUniversity.

Blizzard’s current hero page explains the general projectile rule but does not list every ultimate interaction. Its June 30, 2026 retail patch notes include Sigma ability changes, including a Kinetic Grasp change, but do not provide a full list of ultimate interactions. Treat the named examples as historical reports unless verified in the current game.
Does absorbing a projectile cancel the whole ultimate?
Not necessarily. Intercepting a projectile and cancelling an ultimate’s entire effect are different outcomes. A projectile may be only one part of an ability, and effects that are already active or continue independently cannot be assumed to vanish when Sigma absorbs an incoming projectile. The sources available establish the general projectile rule and the reported examples, but do not settle every edge case or current interaction.

Is Gravitic Flux the ability that absorbs enemy ults?
No. Gravitic Flux is Sigma’s ultimate; Kinetic Grasp is his defensive ability. The interaction discussed here is Kinetic Grasp intercepting an enemy ultimate-associated projectile—not Gravitic Flux absorbing other ultimates.
