Yes. Roblox can restrict an account for Community Standards violations, including inappropriate avatar content. But a detected violation in your profile avatar is automatically reset to a default look first; that reset alone does not mean your account has been banned. Recreating the violating look can lead to another reset and further account action.
What Roblox considers inappropriate avatar content
Roblox’s Community Standards prohibit sexually explicit content, including nudity or partial nudity, and sexually suggestive content, including sexualized avatar bodies, assets and clothing. The standards also prohibit other categories of content, such as exploitation of minors, harassment and discrimination, extreme violence and gore, and profanity.
Those are policy categories, not a rule that every unusual, revealing or edgy outfit automatically results in a ban. Roblox evaluates content under its standards, and its published guidance does not set one fixed penalty for every avatar or item.
What can happen after a violation
Avatar reset
Roblox says it proactively checks profile avatars. If it detects a configuration that violates the standards, it automatically resets the avatar to a default look and sends an in-app message explaining the reset. An avatar reset is not, by itself, proof that the account has been banned. Roblox’s avatar moderation guidance says users can update their look, but recreating a violating configuration may trigger another reset and further account action.

Account restrictions
Roblox says it may act against both violating content and the accounts of users who created it. Depending on a violation’s severity and impact, consequences can range from a warning or content removal to account-level restrictions. Roblox also considers a user’s history, and repeated violations may lead to more severe consequences. Its guidance does not establish a guaranteed sequence or a single penalty for a particular avatar.
How to respond to an avatar reset or moderation notice
- Read the in-app notice. Check what Roblox says happened and which review route, if any, it offers.
- Change the avatar. Review the current Community Standards before rebuilding the look; Roblox warns that recreating a violating configuration may lead to further action.
- For an automated avatar safety reset, use “Report mistake” if it appears in the notice. Roblox says Customer Support does not manually review these automated reset decisions.
- For other moderation actions, follow the route in your notice. Roblox may direct eligible users to Violations & Appeals or its support form. An appeal asks for another review; it does not guarantee that the decision will be reversed.
- Watch the deadline. Roblox Support’s general guidance reviewed in 2026 says appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the moderation action; EU users have six months to appeal an initial action under that guidance. Duplicate appeals submitted after a review will not be reviewed. Regional rights and routes can differ, so follow the notice and the instructions that apply to your location. Roblox’s appeal guidance explains the process.
Other situations that can look like a ban
Grey blocks on an avatar
Roblox says some avatar items may be unavailable in certain regions because of local requirements. In those cases, the avatar can appear as grey blocks. That display or availability issue does not, by itself, establish that your account has been banned. Roblox’s grey-block support article covers this behavior.

A ban from one experience
A restriction from a single Roblox experience is different from a Roblox-wide account restriction. Roblox’s support guidance for Error Code 267 says an experience creator, rather than Roblox, may issue that kind of ban. Check the message you received to identify which kind of restriction applies. Roblox’s Error Code 267 article describes experience bans.
