Yes. You can summon a Spirit Ash during Malenia’s fight if the rebirth-monument icon appears on your HUD. You can also summon other players for co-op, but not in the same attempt as a Spirit Ash: Elden Ring does not allow Spirit Ashes during multiplayer.
Spirit Ashes: available if the monument icon appears
Bandai Namco Europe’s Elden Ring beginner’s guide says that ashes can summon a spirit when a rebirth monument is nearby and its icon is shown on the left side of the screen. A community-edited Malenia boss reference identifies Spirit Ashes as usable in her encounter.

The same Bandai Namco guide says only one type of spirit can be summoned at a time, and that spirits cannot be summoned during multiplayer. A spirit leaves if its HP reaches zero, Malenia is defeated, it moves far enough from the monument, or you summon the same ashes again.
Player co-op: summon other players instead
If you want human help, use multiplayer rather than a Spirit Ash. The host uses a Furlcalling Finger Remedy to reveal available summon signs; players can place signs near a boss door. FromSoftware’s online manual says a host can summon up to two co-op guests. It also says you cannot host co-op in an area after defeating that area’s boss. Why the Spirit Ash option may be unavailable
- No monument icon: The game’s stated condition for using ashes is a nearby rebirth monument and its HUD icon.
- Multiplayer is active: Spirit Ashes cannot be summoned during multiplayer, so choose either co-op or an Ash for that attempt.
- A spirit is already active: Only one type can be summoned at a time.
What about an NPC summon at Malenia’s door?
The Malenia-specific reference cited above establishes Spirit Ash availability, but it does not establish a named NPC cooperator at her door. That source does not support a broader claim that an NPC summon is always or never available there.
