If by “console” you mean PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch, the commands below do not apply: the documented Civilization VI debug menu is for PC. It offers a few map and help commands, not a general-purpose cheat console for adding gold, finishing production, or spawning units.
Which Civilization 6 commands are available?
The PC debug menu guide documents three commands. Enter them in the in-game console bar:

How to open the Civilization VI debug menu on PC
- Close the game.
- Find
AppOptions.txtin your Civilization VI user files. The guide listsDocumentsMy GamesSid Meier's Civilization VIfor some installations; another guide says current builds may instead useAppDataLocalFiraxis GamesSid Meier's Civilization VI, while the Documents location may apply to older builds. Paths vary, so search for the file in your installation rather than assuming either location is universal. (CheatArcade; Gamer Guides) - Make a backup copy of
AppOptions.txtbefore editing it. - Open the file in a text editor and change
EnableDebugMenu 0toEnableDebugMenu 1. Save the file. - Relaunch Civilization VI, load a game, and press
~to open the console bar. On some non-US keyboard layouts, the key in the same physical position may differ. (CheatArcade; Gamer Guides) - Enter one of the documented commands, such as
Reveal All, and press Enter. Revealing the map may briefly freeze the game while it processes the tiles. (Gamer Guides)
Gamer Guides says the AppOptions location changed after the March 2023 Great Builders update and may differ by build. CheatArcade says its codes were last checked on 23 September 2026 against PC Steam and Epic builds; that is the publisher’s verification statement, not a guarantee for every PC installation. #1 Best Overall
- EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before.
- ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization's progress through history.
- DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game.
- COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units.
Do these commands work on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or mobile?
No. The command guide labels its debug-menu instructions PC-only and says they do not work on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or mobile. The Microsoft Store listing confirms a Civilization VI edition for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, but it does not document debug commands for that release. Do not assume the PC file-editing steps or keyboard shortcut translate to console or mobile editions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is FireTuner another cheat console?
No. Civilization VI’s development-tools documentation describes FireTuner as a runtime debug console that designers can attach to a running game to inspect gameplay. It is a separate developer and modding tool, not evidence of a standard list of player-facing cheat commands. Gamer Guides separately says FireTuner can be enabled by setting EnableTuner 1; that detail is from a secondary guide, not the development-tools documentation. (Gamer Guides)
