What the ClanGen Mod Masterlist is—and what it tells you
ClanGen is a downloadable Warrior Cats fan game. The Mod Masterlist is a community-created guide intended to help players discover mods and related modding resources. A community post introducing it describes a section for modding resources, but the information available here does not establish the list’s complete contents, whether its entries are current, or whether their links still work.
That distinction matters: use the masterlist as a discovery starting point, then verify an entry with its creator or the linked source. The available information does not support naming particular current mods or presenting the masterlist as an exhaustive, maintained catalogue.
Which ClanGen version should you compare a mod against?
The official download page lists stable ClanGen v0.13.4 for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Version numbers can change, so confirm the current stable release and download for your operating system on the official ClanGen download page. The ClanGenOfficial repository also directs players to the official site for stable versions.

A game being the latest stable release does not mean every mod supports it. ClanGen’s v0.13.0 release notes, published May 8, 2026, warn that mod players may need to wait for a creator to update a mod or play an older game version. Treat that as a practical compatibility check, not a promise that a mod works on v0.13.4—or that saves can be moved safely between versions.
How to assess a mod before installing it
- Identify the exact game version. Check the version named in the mod creator’s instructions or release information. Compare it with the stable version listed on ClanGen’s official download page.
- Confirm what is being distributed. Determine whether the download is a complete game build or files intended to change an existing installation. Do not assume the two are installed or updated in the same way.
- Use the creator’s directions. Follow the specific installation and update instructions supplied by the mod’s creator. The available information does not verify a single installation method for all ClanGen mods or establish an official built-in mod manager.
- Check who hosts the download. Prefer a live link supplied by the creator where possible. A community listing is a pointer, not proof that a link is active, safe, or up to date.
- Protect your saves before experimenting. Keep a separate copy of important saves before changing game files or trying a different build. This is a precaution, not a guarantee that saves will remain compatible.
Stable releases versus development builds
For ordinary play, use the stable download unless you have a specific reason to try a development build. The repository README describes development versions as automatic snapshots of current work; they are unstable, may crash, and can corrupt save files. It also says they are not supported for general technical help. Those risks make a development build a poor shortcut for getting a mod to work unless the mod creator specifically directs you to it and you accept the possibility of problems.

Where official documentation fits
The ClanGen Documentation serves players, developers, and modders, but its user guides are community contributions rather than team-maintained instructions. The site states: “User guides are contributed by volunteers within the community and are not created directly by the ClanGen development team, nor are they maintained by the ClanGen development team.” Check who wrote a guide and when it was updated, especially when it describes version-sensitive steps.
If you are building ClanGen from source rather than installing a player download, the official contribution guide uses uv sync and provides helper scripts for Windows, macOS, and Linux: ClanGen contribution guide. This setup guidance is for contributors and source builds, not a general mod-installation procedure.

What the masterlist does not establish
- Which specific mods are currently listed or actively maintained.
- Whether individual entries support stable v0.13.4.
- Whether each download link works or points to the original creator.
- A universal installation method or official mod-manager workflow.
For those details, check the current masterlist itself and the creator’s own instructions. If a listing does not name a supported game version or explain what its files modify, ask the creator or wait for clearer guidance rather than assuming compatibility.
