Remnant II is the clearest pick if you want demanding, boss-focused action where guns are central and melee remains part of the combat. It borrows Soulslike challenge and checkpoint resets, but adds co-op, character archetypes and dynamically generated areas rather than copying the Souls formula.
What counts as a Soulslike with gunplay?
It is a loose label, not a single genre formula. The useful questions are whether guns drive combat or merely supplement it, whether the game builds around difficult encounters and bosses, and how melee, checkpoints, solo play and co-op fit into the design.
For Remnant II, the Soulslike comparison has a specific basis: Gunfire Games president David Adams told Xbox Wire that players make it because of the difficulty and checkpoints that reset the world. He also highlighted what sets the game apart: guns, archetypes with abilities, randomly generated worlds and drop-in/drop-out co-op. Read the Xbox Wire interview.
Remnant II: the strongest match for shooter-led Soulslike combat
Remnant II is the best fit when you want firearms to be a core part of a challenging action game, not a side tool in a mostly melee experience. The official game page describes methodical and frenetic ranged and melee combat, large boss battles, gear choices, and the option to play solo or join up with two other friends. See the official Remnant II page.

- 【CAUTION】It is Not toy for children!!! It is collectible Figures. This series has 6 figures to collect. Fear not the dark my friend, and let the feast begin.
- 【About Random】NOTE: each blind box is randomly arranged. You can get any figure in probability of 1/6.
- 【About Size】The height of each cool figure is about 4.3 inches. All figures are hand-painted with lots of details.
- 【About Usage】A perfect gift for age 15+. Good for decoration at home, inside cars or in offices. A piece-of-art expressing feelings and emotions. Great for sharing with family and friends, and Steam groups.
- 【About Material】Safe to use. Made of non-toxic, harmless, odorless PVC/ABS material. Lively and precise coloring. Smooth and good quality surfacing.
Its structure also gives the comparison more substance than combat difficulty alone. The reset checkpoints connect it to Soulslikes, while unlockable archetypes and dynamically generated dungeons and areas encourage different builds and repeat runs. Those systems make it a hybrid with its own identity, not simply a Souls game with guns.
Solo play and co-op
You can play alone or team up with two other players. The Steam listing also identifies online co-op support. Check the Steam listing.

How long is it?
In the July 2023 Xbox Wire interview, Adams estimated 20-plus hours for the main story and 60–100 hours to complete everything, possibly longer. These are the developer’s estimates, not independently measured playtime; your run can vary with exploration and replaying generated content.
Remnant: From the Ashes: start with the predecessor or jump to the sequel?
Remnant: From the Ashes is the related predecessor. The sequel’s story picks up after the first game’s final DLC, but Adams said newcomers should be able to follow it without playing the original. If you want the earlier game’s story and systems, start there; if you mainly want the strongest current match for gun-centered Soulslike combat, the sequel is a reasonable entry point.

Lies of P: a Soulslike alternative, not a gunplay equivalent
Lies of P is worth considering if your priority is a Soulslike feel and weapon variety rather than a shooter-led combat loop. Its official page highlights weapon combinations and Legion Arms, along with their abilities; it does not present firearms as a central combat system. See the official Lies of P page. Treat it as a comparison for the Soulslike side of the request, not as a direct alternative to Remnant II’s gunplay.
