Tokyo Station Gallery’s current show, SUIKODEN The Water Margin: Outlaws of the Marsh, explores the literary story and its influence on Chinese and Japanese art; KONAMI separately identifies a Suikoden 30th-anniversary display at Tokyo Game Show 2026. This practical guide covers the gallery exhibition, which runs through November 8, 2026.

What the exhibition is about
The show traces the Water Margin story through Chinese art from the Northern Song to Qing dynasties and Japanese art from the Edo period to the present. It brings together ukiyo-e prints, woodblock-printed books and other works to explore how the story travelled to Japan and was reimagined there. The gallery highlights the influence of the illustrated edition by Kyokutei Bakin and Katsushika Hokusai, as well as later depictions by Utagawa Kuniyoshi.
One major draw is Kuniyoshi’s One Hundred and Eight Heroes of the Popular Water Margin: the gallery says all 74 identified prints in the series are on display. Some works rotate during the exhibition, and the gallery notes that details may change; check its exhibition overview for updates.

The gallery also presents costumes from the television adaptation of Kenzo Kitakata’s Suikoden novels. Its exhibition page reports that the novel series has sold more than 11.6 million copies cumulatively; the page does not specify when that figure was measured.
Using the optional audio guide
The audio guide costs 700 yen. You need a smartphone and must bring your own earphones; the gallery does not rent devices. As Tokyo Station Gallery puts it, “Please use your own earphones at the venue. Devices are not available for rent on-site.” The gallery does not specify an earphone connector type, so check that your earphones work with your phone before you go. Details are on the audio guide information page.

What is known about the Suikoden 30th-anniversary display
KONAMI identifies a separate Suikoden series 30th-anniversary display at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The KONAMI page does not establish visitor dates, a Tokyo address or access details for that display, so those logistics cannot be confirmed here. Check KONAMI’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 announcement for information it provides.
