To play with a friend on another platform, find them through EA Connect; to carry supported progress between platforms, use the same EA Account on each one. Cross-progression covers rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards, but does not establish that a game purchase transfers between storefronts.
Before you start: choose the right EA Account
EA requires an EA Account to play Battlefield 6 and says game progress is stored through that account. Sign in with the EA Account where you want progress to remain. If you played the Battlefield 6 Beta or Battlefield 2042 Road to Battlefield 6, EA advises using the same account.
Check which platform accounts are linked by opening the Connections page in EA Account settings. If your PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam account is not listed, it is not linked. EA says console and EA accounts created with the same email address should connect automatically when the game loads on console, but verify the connection rather than assuming it did.
To link an account, sign in to your EA Account and connect the platform account under Connected Accounts. EA recommends linking an account you plan to keep long-term. Account-link changes are limited to three times in a rolling year, and unlinking an old or expired account can have consequences. Recover the original account if possible before changing a link; do not assume progress or purchases can be moved to another EA Account. See EA’s account-linking guidance.

How to add a friend on another platform
- Open Battlefield 6 and press R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, or Tab on PC to open EA Connect.
- Choose Search Accounts, enter your friend’s EA ID or platform ID, select the matching account, then choose Add Friend.
- Have your friend accept the request in Friend Requests.
- When they appear in your EA Connect Friends list, invite them to your group.

How to turn cross-play off on console
Cross-play starts enabled. EA says the opt-out setting is available on PlayStation and Xbox, not PC. On console, open the gear/settings menu and go to Settings > System > Configuration > Cross-play, then switch Cross-play off. You cannot change the setting while in a party, on a server, or after matchmaking has started. Turning it off limits play to people on the same platform.

With cross-play on, console matchmaking prioritizes players on the same console and may include PC players if there are not enough console players available. This is why a console player can still be matched with PC players even though the system prefers a same-console pool. See EA’s cross-play explanation.
What cross-save means in Battlefield 6
Battlefield 6 supports cross-progression through the EA Account. The official PlayStation Battlefield 6 FAQ says: “Yes, your rank, unlocks and Battle Pass rewards carry over across all supported platforms via your EA Account.” EA’s account and access guide also says progress is stored through the EA Account.

In practical terms, use the same intended EA Account and link each platform account you will play on. “Cross-save” is often used casually for this continuity, but the confirmed claim is cross-progression for rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards—not a promise that every setting, entitlement, or paid item transfers.
Progress does not mean a shared game license
Progress carrying over does not establish that a Battlefield 6 purchase on one storefront gives you access on another. Check game ownership separately on each platform, along with any platform-specific online subscription requirement. For example, the PlayStation product page says PS Plus is required for online play on PS5.

PC launcher requirements
Steam players do not need the EA app to play Battlefield 6, but they still need an EA Account. Players who bought through Epic Games Store and EA Play Pro members need the EA app. These launcher differences do not remove the EA Account requirement; EA lists them in its Battlefield 6 account and access guide.
