Neither Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) nor Objectives are always easier. An SBC may be the quicker route if you already have suitable Player Items and the reward is worth submitting them; an Objective may take less extra effort when its tasks fit the matches or modes you planned to play anyway. Compare the specific requirements, time, expiry, reward, and item cost—not just the category name.
How SBCs and Objectives work
SBCs trade squad items for a listed reward
For an SBC, you submit a squad that meets the challenge’s requirements. Those can include squad rating, chemistry, player quality, league, nation, or club. Some SBCs have one challenge; others have several, with individual rewards and a group reward. Some are repeatable, so check the listing rather than assuming every challenge works the same way.
The key cost is that submitted Player Items are permanently removed from your Club. EA Help says: “Player Items you submit are permanently removed from your Club, and EA Advisors can’t restore them.” Review the requirements, reward, expiry, and the value of the items you would use before submitting. Objectives ask you to complete listed activities
Objectives can be tied to seasons, campaigns, Evolutions, Live Events, Gallery progress, and other activities. EA describes daily, weekly, season, dynamic, foundation, milestone, mastery, and gallery Objectives. Tasks, time windows, and rewards vary by listing; they may require particular matches, modes, players, or actions. Some award Season Points, which increase your Season Pass reward level. Which route is easier for you?

These are practical decision rules based on the published mechanics, not measured completion times. “Easier” might mean fewer matches, less menu work, less risk to your squad, lower item cost, or a reward you can realistically reach. Decide which of those matters most to you, then compare the individual listings.
Check the live listings before committing
- Open the current SBC or Objective listing in Ultimate Team and read every requirement, including any group requirements.
- Compare the stated reward with what you will spend: time and required activities for an Objective, or Player Items for an SBC.
- Check the expiry and, for an SBC, whether it is repeatable. Do not submit items you may want to keep for another use.
- Choose the route that best fits your available time, access to the required mode, and Club inventory.
Official guidance explains how these systems work, but it does not establish a universal winner or a head-to-head completion-time comparison. The exact live tasks and rewards can change, so an old campaign example should not be treated as a current listing.

What past campaigns show—and what they don’t
EA’s June 2026 World’s Game Update described Journey of Nations as including over 250 challenges. Its dated materials described tokens earned through Rivals, Squad Battles, Rush, Live Events, selected Objectives, and selected SBCs. This is a historical example of one campaign combining several reward paths, not a current challenge count or proof that one category is easier.
Similarly, EA’s February 20, 2026 Fantasy FC announcement described a competition where “every win unlock[s] a new one.” That illustrates how an event-linked path can depend on match results; it does not establish that Objectives as a whole require more effort than SBCs.
