4. Forgiveness

5–10. Other candidates require current verification

Bungie’s June 9, 2026 Update 9.7.0 is identified by the development team as Destiny 2’s final major patch; maintenance patches and smaller hotfixes are still expected. The update increased Rocket Sidearm projectile explosion radius by 33%, while a general special-weapon damage increase explicitly excluded Rocket Sidearms. These are class-level changes, not evidence that any particular Sidearm is best, and they do not supply a ranked comparison among individual weapons.

A February 3, 2026 patch-note archive lists Compact Defender as a legendary Sidearm and describes a display issue involving Overclocked Heatsink whose fix was deferred to a future release.
