Developer 10 Chambers showed a four-player cooperative heist shooter built around stealth, combat and neural hacking. The game itself was first revealed at The Game Awards in 2023, a year before the gameplay debut.
What the first gameplay trailer showed
The trailer opens above the corporate skyline of Midway City before moving into a heist. 10 Chambers describes the game as a four-player cooperative first-person shooter in which a crew infiltrates targets, steals information and faces security that can turn a stealth operation into a fight.
Its distinctive premise is neural hacking. In the game’s fictional world, corporations store secrets in virtual environments within human brains; those environments are protected by both physical and mental security systems. The concept pairs familiar heist elements—sneaking into a site and escaping with a target—with a more surreal digital space.
Where Den of Wolves takes place
Midway City is a fictional, corporate-controlled metropolis. In 10 Chambers’ worldbuilding, it was founded as a high-security zone after an AI cyberattack threatened global financial and technology infrastructure. That backstory is part of the game’s setting, not a real-world event.

10 Chambers has said Den of Wolves is not open-world. Co-founder Oscar J-T Holm described the lore as a way to give players a sense of purpose, even if they choose not to follow the story closely.
What later gameplay updates added
A June 8, 2025 update from 10 Chambers showed a separate scenario: a routine intelligence extraction at a corporate showroom escalates into a struggle to survive when security forces arrive. It offered another glimpse of the intended shift between stealth and combat, but does not establish how every mission will play.
