The Disney Afternoon Collection is no longer awaiting a Switch release: Nintendo lists it as released for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 26, 2026. The updated eight-game collection adds two Super NES titles to the original six-game lineup, alongside rewind and save features and modes for the NES games.

What’s included in the Switch collection?

The collection brings together eight games based on Disney Afternoon television series. Six are from the NES era; Bonkers and Goof Troop are the two additions, and Nintendo describes them as their first re-release. The lineup spans two systems:

Game Original system What to expect
DuckTales NES Scrooge McDuck platforming, with his cane as a weapon and pogo ability.
DuckTales 2 NES A second Scrooge McDuck platform adventure.
Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers NES A platform game featuring the Rescue Rangers, with co-op play.
Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 NES The sequel, also featuring co-op play.
TaleSpin NES A side-scrolling shooter starring Baloo.
Darkwing Duck NES An action platformer/shooter featuring Darkwing’s gas gun.
Bonkers Super NES A six-level platforming adventure set in Toontown.
Goof Troop Super NES A puzzle-oriented adventure starring Goofy and Max, with family co-op play.

The original collection, announced by Capcom in 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, contained the six NES games. The Switch edition’s main lineup change is the inclusion of the two Super NES games; that does not establish that every feature works identically to the earlier releases.

Which features and modes are available?

Nintendo lists Rewind and Save features, Gallery Mode with archival material, and a music player featuring soundtracks from all eight games. These are collection-level additions to the original games, but the timed challenges are not available across the entire lineup.

Disney Afternoon Collection - Nintendo Switch 2
  • BONKERS (SNES): This wacky platformer is packed with Easter eggs for Disney fans. Navigate six levels of Toontown in search of items that have gone missing – the Sorcerer's Hat, the Mermaid's Voice, and the Magic Lamp.
  • GOOF TROOP (SNES): A family, co-op adventure starring father-son duo, Goofy and Max. Solve puzzles as they try to rescue their friends from a pirate island. Goof Troop is one of game developer Shinji Mikami’s (Resident Evil, Dino Crisis) earliest games.
  • DUCKTALES (NES) and DUCKTALES 2 (NES): DuckTales for NES (1989) was one of Capcom’s biggest hits. Play as Scrooge McDuck with a cane that doubles as a weapon and a pogo stick. The multi-path levels are packed with secrets and surprises, along with a great soundtrack. The sequel is just as fun.
  • CHIP ‘N DALE RESCUE RANGERS (NES) and CHIP ‘N DALE RESCUE RANGERS 2 (NES): A duo of early 8-bit, co-op platformers featuring loveable chipmunk detectives. Work together to walk and jump through levels, picking up acorns, boxes, and other objects to throw at your enemies.
  • The physical edition includes a treasure trove of exclusive physical goodies: 8 retro milk caps, 3 collectible cards, and 2 sticker sheets!
  • Rewind and Save: Quality-of-life options for managing play sessions and recovering from mistakes.
  • Time Attack and Boss Rush: Challenge modes for the NES games. Nintendo’s regional listing explicitly excludes Bonkers and Goof Troop.
  • Online leaderboards: Listed alongside the challenge modes; do not assume every game has its own leaderboard or challenge mode.
  • Gallery and music player: Archival material and music from all eight games.

Capcom’s 2017 announcement also described rewind, Time Attack, Boss Rush, and archival extras for the original collection. The Switch feature list should be treated as its own edition’s description rather than proof that all implementation details carried over unchanged.

Does it work on Switch 2, and how can you play?

Nintendo lists the game for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 and marks it as supported on Switch 2. Nintendo’s compatibility note says, “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch.” The page lists TV, tabletop, and handheld play, and one-to-two players on a single system. It also cautions that compatibility and play experience may differ on Nintendo Switch Lite.

Is there a physical Switch edition?

Nintendo’s U.S. product page identifies its listing as digital. A January 29, 2026 report from Nintendo Everything said Atari confirmed a physical edition shipping in May 2026. The reported edition includes a cartridge, sticker sheets, postcards, milk caps, and a reversible cover.

That announcement establishes a planned physical format and its reported extras, not current retailer stock, price, or availability. If buying a cartridge, check the retailer’s live listing to confirm it is the Nintendo Switch physical edition; the Switch 2 support notice does not mean the game has a separate Switch 2 cartridge.

Who should consider this edition?

  • Choose it for the expanded lineup if you want the two Super NES additions, especially Goof Troop’s puzzle-and-co-op format or the six-level Bonkers.
  • It may be less compelling as an upgrade if you already own the original six-game collection elsewhere and are primarily looking for those same NES titles; the distinct lineup additions are the two SNES games.
  • It suits local play if you want to play supported games with another person on one system. Nintendo lists one-to-two players; Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers, its sequel, and Goof Troop are identified as co-op games.
  • Pick digital or physical by format preference, but verify a physical retailer listing before purchase because Nintendo’s U.S. page is for the digital version.
