After you become Champion in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield, Leon leaves you a level 5 Charmander in a Poké Ball in his room at Hop and Leon’s house in Postwick. The Charmander has the Gigantamax Factor, so it can evolve into a Charizard that can Gigantamax.
When can you get Leon’s Charmander?
It is a post-Champion gift, not a starter you can choose at the beginning of the game. First win the Champion battle and complete the victory sequence. Then return to Postwick to collect it.
Where do you find the gift?
- After becoming Champion, go back to Postwick.
- Enter Hop and Leon’s house.
- Go upstairs to Leon’s room and pick up the Poké Ball to receive Charmander.
What is special about this Charmander?
The gifted Charmander has the Gigantamax Factor. Evolve it into Charizard to use its Gigantamax capability.
The gift is available in both Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. The official Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield website identifies the games; the gift’s location and details are documented by Bulbapedia and Serebii.
