No—Roblox’s rules prohibit pornography and sexually explicit content. That ban also applies to adult-only, age-checked Restricted experiences. Roblox describes moderation and chat-filtering safeguards, but those safeguards are not a promise that every violation will be caught before someone encounters it.
What does Roblox’s policy prohibit?
Roblox’s Restricted Content Policy explicitly prohibits sexual activity, sexually explicit conversations or solicitation, nudity or partial nudity, sexualized content, and sexually suggestive behavior or presentation. The policy states: “We prohibit content that depicts sexual activity or seeks real-world romantic relationships, including:”
Roblox has a Restricted maturity category for experiences that may include adult-oriented settings and some non-sexual romantic themes. It is limited to users who are 18 or older and have completed age checks; it is not an exception that permits pornography. A Roblox-hosted Terms of Use attachment also corroborates the prohibition on pornography, but the Restricted Content Policy is the clearer source for the specific content rules.
Could someone still encounter sexual content?
Roblox says uploaded images, meshes, audio, and video go through multi-step review, with moderators and automated systems identifying potential violations. It also says eligible chat is filtered by default, including for sexual content. These safeguards reduce risks; they do not establish that every prohibited item or interaction is detected before exposure. Roblox does not provide a named statistic in the cited materials showing how often pornography appears or how effective moderation is.

- Link a parent account. Start with Roblox’s parental controls and follow the account-linking steps. A linked account provides access to a child’s settings, including content maturity.
- Set the content maturity level. Choose a level appropriate for your family. Roblox says the setting limits which maturity-rated games the child can play; see its Content Maturity FAQ for details.
- Review individual games. Check the allowed and blocked games list. A game above the selected maturity level may still appear in search results or ads, but Roblox says the child cannot play it under that restriction.
- Review communication settings. Check who can contact the child and what communication features are available. If a user behaves inappropriately, block the user and report the conduct through Roblox’s safety tools.
- Check the account type and regional options. Roblox describes Roblox Kids for ages 5–8 and Roblox Select for ages 9–15, with age ranges varying by region. The available defaults and controls can therefore differ by location and account; consult Roblox’s Kids and Select information.
