Bandai Namco’s published list of Episode Battle leads does not include Yamcha. The game does offer branching “What If” paths for some story stages, and its separate Custom Battle mode lets players create scenarios—so you can build or imagine a Yamcha rescue, but that is different from an official built-in Yamcha campaign.
Does Episode Battle let you save Yamcha?
Episode Battle is the game’s story-driven mode, with branching paths that can open when players meet particular conditions. The Dragon Ball Official Site describes those “What If” scenarios, while Bandai Namco’s launch announcement names eight campaign leads: Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Jiren, Future Trunks, Goku Black, and Frieza. Yamcha is not on that list, and the official materials cited here do not confirm a dedicated story in which he is saved.

Can you create a Yamcha what-if battle?
Custom Battle is the route for making a scenario of your own. Bandai Namco describes it as a mode where players choose warriors, dialogue, and in-battle effects to create battles; those battles can be shared and played online. That gives players tools to stage a Yamcha-centered rescue or alternate outcome, but it does not establish that an official Yamcha rescue scenario is included or provide a verified step-by-step build for one.

Custom Battle is distinct from Episode Battle: one is a player-created scenario mode, while the other contains the publisher’s story campaigns and their branching paths. The distinction matters if you are searching for a canonical or developer-authored Yamcha storyline.

What modes and content does the game offer?
In a July 23, 2026 PlayStation Blog post, Bandai Namco Associate Brand Manager Zanda Ra described the game’s solo options as including Episode Battle, Custom Battle, and the later-added Survival Mode. The post also covers the Super Limit-Breaking Neo DLC, which adds Limit Breaker Journey mode. These additions do not change the documented distinction between Episode Battle’s named leads and player-made Custom Battles.
Character counts also depend on when they were reported: Bandai Namco listed 181 playable characters at launch in 2024, while Ra described the game as having over 200 playable characters in 2026. Those are dated publisher figures, not conflicting descriptions of the same release moment.

At launch in 2024, Bandai Namco announced DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The publisher’s current page lists additional later platforms, so availability depends on region and platform; check the relevant regional store listing for the current version and any newly added content.
