Dragon’s Dogma 2: Where to Find a Place of Tomes for Waldhar

Waldhar’s requested “place with plenty of tomes” is the underground archive in the vault beneath the ruins beside The Gracious Hand, in Vernworth’s slums. The archive is part of The Heel of History: help Kendrick, follow the search for Malcolm, then return to Waldhar and tell him about the vaults. You still need to escort Waldhar out of the gaol and report to Captain Brant to finish The Caged Magistrate.

How to reach the place of tomes

The objective “Find a place with plenty of tomes” belongs to The Caged Magistrate. It may not give you a waypoint to the archive, so use the quest chain and landmarks below rather than searching Vernworth for a separate building. 1. Speak with Waldhar in the gaol. During The Caged Magistrate, he will not leave until you find a refuge with plenty of books.
2. Return to Captain Brant. Ask about Waldhar’s request; Brant points you toward Kendrick at The Gracious Hand in the Vernworth slums.
3. Help Kendrick. Fulfill the requests he presents, then take on the search for Malcolm. Guides describe two donations, but the exact combination of food and gold varies, so follow the requests shown in your game rather than relying on a fixed cost.
4. Continue The Heel of History. Speak with the children in the search area, return to Kendrick, and follow him to the nearby ruins.
5. Enter the underground vault. Follow the route inside until you find Malcolm. He leads you to the archive—the place of tomes Waldhar asked you to find.

What to do after finding the archive

Finding the books is not the final step. Return to the gaol and speak with Waldhar; tell him about the archive in the vaults. Then lead him out of the gaol and report back to Captain Brant. The objective is confirmed as part of The Caged Magistrate in the quest objective listing.

If the quest does not seem to be progressing

• No archive waypoint: The objective may not mark the destination. The relevant landmark is the ruins beside The Gracious Hand in Vernworth’s slums; reach them by progressing Kendrick’s quest.
• Kendrick has not sent you to find Malcolm: Check whether you have fulfilled the requests he currently gives you. The guides do not establish one universal donation combination, so use the in-game prompts.
• You found the archive, but Waldhar remains in the gaol: Return and tell him what you found, then escort him out. Finish by reporting to Brant.
