How to unlock and start Chain Reaction
Chain Reaction is listed as side quest 17. Complete the story quest Secrets in Air, then find Selby at Exile’s Cave to receive it. One walkthrough says the quest became available a day after Secrets in the Air; treat that as guide-specific timing, not a guaranteed waiting period. The quest’s premise is that Selby intercepted radio traffic about the Baron’s Guards transporting chemicals to a camping park.

Quest objectives, in order
Follow the objectives as they appear; the full walkthrough lists this sequence:
- Reach the Camping Park.
- Disable the gas cylinders.
- Check on the survivor.
- Reach the outpost used by the Baron’s Guards.
- Find fuel.
- Load supplies onto the truck.
- Find rations.
- Load the rations onto the truck.
- Get into the vehicle.
- Drive to the rendezvous point.
- Find Lucy.
Disable the Camping Park gas cylinders
A third-party walkthrough describes three gas tanks at the Camping Park emitting red smoke and attracting Virals. Interact with all three to disable them, and be ready to fight while doing so. That guide advises against relying on stealth once the gas has drawn enemies in; this is tactical guidance, not a developer-confirmed rule.

Choose Lucy’s fate
At the final confrontation, a Gamer Guides walkthrough reports two dialogue branches. Use the reported wording below as a guide: an official quest transcript was not located to confirm the exact strings.

The walkthrough reports the same reward for either outcome: 10,000 XP and two manual-page items. Guides differ on the item’s name: Gamer Guides calls them “Expert Field Manuals,” while GameTrek calls them “Legendary Manual Pages.” Check the reward text in your game if the exact label matters. The cited guides describe Lucy’s fate as the meaningful difference; they do not establish that the choice changes the game’s overall ending.
