No—DLC ownership cannot be transferred to another Nintendo Account. Another user profile on the same Switch may be able to use downloaded DLC under Nintendo’s sharing rules, but that does not make the DLC theirs. The important distinction is between who owns a purchase and which users or consoles can access it.
Does DLC transfer to another Nintendo Switch profile?
Not as a purchase. Nintendo ties a digital purchase to the Nintendo Account that bought it, and says digital purchases cannot be transferred to a different Nintendo Account. See Nintendo’s transfer guidance.
A Switch profile is a local user on the console; it can be linked to a Nintendo Account. If another profile on the same console can use downloaded DLC, that is shared access—not a transfer of ownership. Nintendo’s support page says downloaded content is not limited to the account that made the purchase.
What happens in each situation?

Using DLC on another console
Do not assume that same-console sharing works identically across multiple systems. Nintendo’s guidance for Switch 2 and Switch distinguishes Virtual Game Card access from online-license access. Other users on a console can play content when its Virtual Game Card is loaded there; online-license access has separate conditions, including internet connectivity. The applicable steps depend on the console and setup. Consult Nintendo’s guide to playing games across multiple Switch 2 or Switch consoles.

If you are replacing a console, Nintendo recommends transferring the account, user profile, save data, and eShop purchases to the replacement system. If the old console is unavailable, sign in with the account that bought the content and download its purchases. These actions move access to a system; they do not reassign the purchase. See Nintendo’s console and account transfer instructions.
Save data and DLC are separate
A save transfer or Nintendo Switch Online cloud backup concerns game progress, not who owns an add-on. Supported games may allow save data to be moved or restored under Nintendo’s conditions, but the DLC remains associated with the Nintendo Account that purchased it. Check the game’s save-data compatibility separately, then confirm that the console and account setup can access the add-on. Nintendo’s instructions cover user and save-data transfers.

Why does the eShop show a price for DLC I already used?
A displayed price is a reason to check which Nintendo Account is active and whether that account’s purchase history or receipt shows the DLC purchase. Nintendo says a cost generally appears when the eShop is being viewed with an account that did not buy the content. If you previously played the DLC on that console, another household member’s account may have supplied access. Check Nintendo’s troubleshooting guidance for previously purchased content showing a download cost, then use the account that owns the purchase.

What to do next
- For another profile on the same Switch: Keep the purchasing account and downloaded content available on that console; the other user may access it under the sharing rules, but does not acquire ownership.
- For a different Nintendo Account: There is no ownership-transfer process. Make or redeem the purchase while signed into the account that should own it.
- For a replacement console: Transfer the account and user as appropriate, or sign in with the purchasing account and redownload the purchase. For multiple-console use, follow Nintendo’s Virtual Game Card or online-license steps for your setup.
- If the eShop asks you to pay: Check the active account, purchase history, and receipt before buying again.
