It is included in free Patch 6 for owners of the base game—not sold as a separate DLC.
What is Neighborhood Watch?
PLAION describes Neighborhood Watch as “a 3 players co-op game mode that offers a unique mix of roguelike, defend the shelter and horde mechanics, within the gameplay of DI2.” The mode follows the Bobcats, a group of college kids defending their frat house in the Venice Canals, a new area of Hell-A created for this mode.

Its central loop is preparation followed by a holdout: players complete missions, set traps and gather weapons during the first four fictional days; on the fifth, the horde attacks. Each Bobcat has distinct skills, traps and weapons, giving the team different ways to contribute.
How to access the mode—and what it costs
Select Neighborhood Watch from Dead Island 2’s main menu. You do not need to finish the campaign first. Deep Silver says Patch 6 is free for everyone who owns the Dead Island 2 base game, and it includes both Neighborhood Watch and New Game Plus. If you do not own the game, the relevant purchase is Dead Island 2 itself; Neighborhood Watch is not a separately purchased add-on.

Solo or co-op: which should you choose?
The standard co-op format is three players, and you can play with friends or random matchmaking. Solo play is also available, but PLAION cautions that it is more challenging. Co-op lets players coordinate the Bobcats’ different tools and share preparation and defense responsibilities; solo means handling the run without that team support.

Session rules to know before starting
- Matchmaking does not restrict players based on campaign progress.
- Everyone who wants to join must be in the lobby before the run begins. Players cannot join a session already in progress.
- A team can include two or three of the same Bobcat, so duplicate character picks are allowed.
Known issues and how to respond
The run feels harder than expected
PLAION warns that if the host has an active New Game+ save selected, the Neighborhood Watch session may inherit New Game+ difficulty. Before hosting, re-select a standard save if you want to avoid that setting.
A kill-count or timed holdout objective is not progressing
A mission-relevant zombie may still be alive nearby, including one that is hiding. Search the surrounding area and kill any remaining zombie tied to the objective; support says this can allow the mission to progress.
