Enotria: The Last Song is worth considering if you want a Soulslike with a bright Italian-inspired world, active defensive combat and room to change your character’s role without starting over. Its mask-and-loadout system gives it a clear identity; the main reservation is that a 2024 review found uneven enemy balance, repetition and technical problems. Those observations describe that review period, not necessarily the current build.

What kind of Soulslike is Enotria?

Made and published by Jyamma Games, Enotria: The Last Song is a single-player action RPG inspired by Italian folklore and Commedia dell’arte. Rather than the usual dark, muted fantasy palette, it stages its journey in a sunlit world. That contrast is its most immediate distinction, while masks give the setting a mechanical role as well as a visual one.

The game’s official platform list includes PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Jyamma Games’ official site lists those platforms. The US PlayStation Store page gives September 19, 2024 as the PS5 release date and describes the game as offline and for one player; storefront details can vary by region and change over time.

How masks and loadouts change your build

Masks taken from defeated foes are more than cosmetic rewards: they change your role and build. Jyamma describes masks as central to the story and says quests and characters, including bosses, can react to the mask you wear. The studio’s official FAQ also says you can prepare up to three customizable loadouts and swap between them during play.

That makes experimentation a core part of the appeal. You can set up different approaches and switch to a suitable one without treating every change as a full restart. Jyamma’s Steam listing advertises over 30 masks, more than 100 weapons, 45 spells and eight parry modifiers; these are publisher feature counts, not independent assessments of how distinct each option feels.

How combat works

Combat emphasizes quicksteps and a chainable parry system. According to Jyamma’s FAQ, partial parries reduce incoming damage. Perfect parries negate damage according to the equipped gem, deal posture damage to enemies and cost no stamina. The distinction gives defensive timing a particular payoff, while quicksteps provide another way to evade attacks.

  • Wield Ardore to alter the world around you.
  • Stay on the offensive with quicksteps and chainable parries.
  • Strike foes to charge powerful magical Lines.
  • Strategically swap between up to three Loadouts at any time.
  • Break an enemies posture for a devastating attack, granting you a mighty Awakened buff.

Whether that rhythm works for you depends on what you want from a Soulslike: if you enjoy learning enemy timing and actively managing defense, the system has a promising hook. The available review evidence does not establish how it compares in difficulty or feel with any specific competing game.

What reviews say about its strengths and weaknesses

Víctor Monje’s MeriStation review, updated October 21, 2024 and based on Steam access, considered the adventure worthwhile and a possible entry point to the genre. It singled out masks as a strength, but also criticized enemy balance and repetition, as well as glitches and frame drops. These are one reviewer’s observations from the review period; they should not be read as a verified description of performance in today’s build.

Steam’s live English-language review snapshot was mixed when checked on October 8, 2026: 67% of 894 user reviews were positive. Recent sentiment was more positive but based on a much smaller window, with 74% of 31 reviews from the preceding 30 days positive. Both figures can change, and the recent sample is small.

How long is Enotria: The Last Song?

There is no single settled runtime in the cited estimates. Jyamma’s undated official FAQ estimates about 40 hours for one playthrough and notes that completionists and less experienced players may take longer. By contrast, Monje’s 2024 MeriStation review described the main story as taking around 12 hours. These figures appear to describe different scopes of play, so neither should be treated as a universal completion time.

Physical availability depends on territory. SEGA announced a PS5 packaged edition for Japan/Asia that launched March 21, 2025; its notice said PC and Xbox Series X|S were digital-only in that market. The listed Japanese recommended retail price for that PS5 standard edition was ¥4,510 including tax. This does not establish physical availability or price in other regions. The SEGA announcement concerns that market specifically.

Who should play it?

  • Consider it if a distinctive sunny setting, folklore-inspired world and a build system centered on changing masks sound more appealing than another conventional dark-fantasy Soulslike.
  • Be cautious if polished enemy variety and consistently smooth performance are your priorities; the cited critical concerns come from a single 2024 PC review, and do not establish the state of the current build.
  • Check your platform first if you are choosing based on performance or a physical copy. PC requirements are published by Steam, while physical-edition information in the cited announcement applies only to Japan/Asia.
