What is Escape From Duckov?
Developed by Team Soda and published by bilibili, Escape From Duckov released on 16 October 2025. It is a top-down, single-player PvE extraction shooter presented as a survival RPG. You enter dangerous areas to scavenge and fight or sneak past enemies, then try to extract with loot that can support your next steps.

The game’s Steam listing describes five maps, more than 50 weapons, quests, weapon modification, skill progression, crafting and hideout building. The publisher also describes planning loot runs and constructing a spaceship. Steam lists achievements, trading cards, Workshop support, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing.
Team Soda producer Jeff Chen described the launch as a chance for players to “explore mysterious maps, loot and shoot fowl foes, and egg-stract to the safety of outer space.” That is launch-day promotional language; the more useful question for a prospective player is whether the underlying run-and-return loop holds up.

How good is the extraction loop?
Runs have stakes without PvP
PC Gamer reviewer Lincoln Carpenter found that the single-player format makes the genre’s risk of losing hard-won equipment work. Without other players, the pressure comes from navigating hostile territory, deciding what to carry and reaching extraction safely. That changes the source of tension, not the basic calculation: take more time or risk for better loot, or leave with what you have.
This makes Duckov a plausible fit for players interested in extraction games but not in unpredictable PvP encounters. It does not establish that the game is easy: the official framing is approachable but challenging, and the independent review specifically praises the danger and tension of moving through hostile areas.

Progress between runs gives loot a purpose
A successful extraction feeds the longer progression loop. Scavenged resources support hideout development, crafting and character improvement; quests and weapon customization give runs goals beyond simply surviving. PC Gamer praises the quest-driven progression and weapon customization, which help connect the immediate risks of a raid to longer-term plans.
Inventory decisions are the clearest frustration
The same loot system can make ordinary inventory management uncertain. PC Gamer reports that players may sell items needed for quests without realizing their future value, or misjudge which loot is worth carrying. That is a meaningful friction point: the tension of deciding what to keep is satisfying when the trade-off is understandable, but less so when the game has not made an item’s importance clear.

Is Escape From Duckov like Escape From Tarkov?
It shares the broad extraction-shooter structure associated with Escape From Tarkov: enter a dangerous area, scavenge, and try to leave with your haul. The crucial difference is that Duckov is explicitly single-player PvE. Its threat comes from the game rather than rival human players. It also uses a top-down perspective and builds a survival-RPG layer around hideout development, crafting, skills and quests.
That makes it better understood as a solo, PvE take on extraction-shooter risk than as a direct substitute for Tarkov’s PvP encounters. If the part of extraction games you want is the pressure of risking gear and bringing loot home, the design has a clear point of comparison. If you specifically want to outmaneuver human opponents, Duckov does not offer that experience.

Is Escape From Duckov worth playing if you don’t like PvP?
It is a strong candidate if you want the extraction loop without competing against other players. Its PvE structure, progression systems and weapon modification are the parts most likely to appeal to solo players. PC Gamer’s review supports the idea that losing equipment and navigating hostile territory can remain compelling in that format.
Consider the inventory caveat before buying: the independent review identifies unclear item value and quest-item needs as a source of frustration. Players who enjoy weighing risk and making imperfect decisions may accept that ambiguity as part of scavenging; players who expect every useful item to be clearly signposted may find it irritating.

The publisher announced PC availability through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Mac availability through Steam and the Mac App Store. The published requirements below are storefront specifications, not a guarantee of performance on every system.

Check the current Steam or Epic listing for the complete Windows processor and graphics details and any updates to requirements before installing. Steam also lists Workshop support, and PC Gamer reported that Workshop UI tweaks and mods were available by its review date; that does not mean every mod is translated or endorsed.
Verdict
Escape From Duckov makes a persuasive case for taking extraction-shooter risk into a single-player PvE game. Runs have stakes, loot supports meaningful progression, and weapon customization and quests give the return to the hideout a purpose. Its main documented weakness is a lack of clarity around what to keep for quests and what loot is worth carrying. For players who want extraction tension without PvP, that is a manageable caveat rather than a reason to dismiss the premise.
At the time PC Gamer reported the launch milestone on 20 October 2025, Team Soda said the game had sold more than 500,000 copies in its first 72 hours. That is a launch-period figure, not a current sales total. Steam’s user-review indicators and storefront details can change, so check the live listing for current reception and availability.
