At the time of the status snapshot retrieved on October 4, 2026, SteamDB and SteamStatus.app showed their monitored Steam services as operational. These are independent status monitors, not guarantees that Steam is reachable for every region, game, or user, so refresh them before deciding whether to wait or troubleshoot your connection.
Is Steam down right now?
The retrieved SteamDB snapshot showed the Steam Store, Community, Web API, Connection Managers, and listed game services as normal. SteamStatus.app also displayed “All Systems Operational,” though some connection-manager regions had differing load labels. Both readings are snapshots that can change quickly; neither proves that every Steam feature or individual game server is working for you.
SteamDB identifies its dashboard as independent of Valve, and SteamStatus.app says its aggregate data may not reflect official Steam server status. For an issue with your connection, Steam Support recommends checking Steam Server Status first, then testing your own network if the problem does not appear system-wide.
How to tell whether Steam or your connection is the problem

What to do if Steam will not connect
- Refresh a status monitor and check Steam Support’s recommended Steam Server Status check. A status page is a snapshot, not a guarantee for every player or service.
- Open another website to see whether your internet connection works outside Steam.
- Test your router. If possible, connect directly by wired Ethernet to help distinguish a wireless or powerline connection problem.
- Check firewall settings and background applications that may interfere with Steam. Steam Support notes that a firewall can block Steam even after an update if it previously worked.
- If Steam reports that its servers are unavailable or too busy, fully restart Steam and try a relatively close download region.
- If the error occurs while joining one game server, try other servers in that game to help narrow down the cause.
Follow Steam Support’s platform-specific file-repair guidance only when it applies to your device and problem. A green monitor does not establish that your PC or network is faulty; use the checks above to narrow down the issue before considering local repairs.

What Steam status monitors can and cannot tell you
SteamDB and SteamStatus.app are independent monitoring sources. Their readings can help identify whether monitored Steam components appear to be having trouble, but they are not official Valve guarantees and may not reflect every region, ISP, game, or user. Refresh the pages if the situation changes.
SteamDB’s sampled external observations reported 99.968% observed Steam Store availability and 46 minutes of detected downtime, and 99.934% observed Steam Community availability and 94 minutes of detected downtime, for its stated June 7–September 13, 2026 window — SteamDB, 2026. These are bounded third-party observations, not official Valve uptime figures or predictions about future outages.

SteamDB also listed a Steam Store HTTP 429 incident on July 9, 2026, and a Steam Community HTTP 503 incident on June 9, 2026, with detected recovery after 46 and 94 minutes respectively — SteamDB, 2026. Individual service incidents do not establish that all Steam features are unavailable.

Why can’t I connect to Steam if status monitors look normal?
A monitor may not reflect your region, ISP, account, or device. Check whether other websites work, test your router or a wired connection if possible, and review firewall settings and background applications that may interfere with Steam.
Why does Steam say its servers are unavailable or too busy?
Steam Support recommends restarting Steam, trying a relatively close download region, checking for interfering software, and checking Steam Network status.

Does a game connection error mean Steam is down?
Not necessarily. Steam Support says a “Server Verification Failed” error can involve a particular game server, Steam Authentication Servers, or your internet connection. Try several servers in the game to help narrow down the cause.
