The mode encouraged temporary alliances, so the reported enforcement was about rule-breaking voice behavior, not teaming by itself. Delulu was later removed from Fortnite on January 18, 2026.
What happened during Delulu’s launch weekend?
Epic launched Delulu on September 19, 2025, as a limited-time, no-build Battle Royale mode built around proximity voice chat. On September 21, Fortnite Status urged players to report voice-chat behavior that broke the rules and ended its post with “Thousands…” GameSpot reproduced the post in its September 22 coverage. The wording indicates a quantity in the thousands, but provides no exact total.
GameSpot also covered player complaints about discrimination and harassment during the launch weekend, including accounts of mistreatment related to accent, age or gender. Those are reports described in that coverage, not a measured estimate of how common the behavior was.
How did Delulu work?
Epic’s launch announcement described matches with 80 players starting solo. Players could form temporary squads of up to four, while proximity voice chat let them speak with nearby players both inside and outside their squad. A player who left a squad could immediately fight former squadmates; the match was designed to end with one winner.

- Comfort is King: Comfort’s in the Cloud III’s DNA. Built for gamers who can’t have an uncomfortable headset ruin the flow of their full-combo, disrupt their speedrun, or knocking them out of the zone.
- Audio Tuned for Your Entertainment: Angled 53mm drivers have been tuned by HyperX audio engineers to provide the optimal listening experience that accents the dynamic sounds of gaming.
- Upgraded Microphone for Clarity and Accuracy: Captures high-quality audio for clear voice chat and calls. The mic is noise-cancelling and features a built-in mesh filter to omit disruptive sounds and LED mic mute indicator lets you know when you’re muted.
- Durability, for the Toughest of Battles: The headset is flexible and features an aluminum frame so it’s resilient against travel, accidents, mishaps, and your ‘level-headed’ reactions to losses and defeat screens.
Epic scheduled the original mode for September 19–22 and September 26–29, 2025. For the second window, Epic adjusted the ending so a match concluded when four players remained.
Could players be banned for teaming?
Not for teaming alone under Delulu’s stated rules. Epic explicitly said: “And no, you won’t get banned for teaming in Delulu. Teaming’s the whole point!” Temporary alliances were a core part of the mode. The reported bans should therefore be understood in the context of rule-breaking voice behavior, not the intended act of forming a squad.
