Epic Games Japan confirmed the launch on December 1, 2024, so the date proved accurate; the season has since launched.
What date did the Fortnite Chapter 6 leak give?
Pro Game Guides reported on July 22, 2024, that leaker ShiinaBR had shared December 1, 2024 as the expected Chapter 6 release date, citing a post that credited Jorge_Most. The report also reproduced a HYPEX post listing December 1 alongside other rumored features. At that point, the date was a leak—not an official confirmation from Epic. Pro Game Guides’ July 22 report cautioned readers to treat leaks skeptically.

Did Epic confirm the date?
Yes. On December 1, 2024, Epic Games Japan published an announcement stating that Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 6 was launching that day. The official date matched the one reported months earlier. Epic Games Japan’s announcement, published via PR TIMES, is the confirmation; the July leak reports were not.
A few days before launch, GameSpot also described December 1 as the expected start date after Chapter 2 Remix ended November 30, while distinguishing leaked details from official announcements. Its November 27, 2024 preview reflects what was known before Epic’s announcement.

What did Epic announce about Chapter 6?
The Japanese-language announcement described the season as inspired by Japanese culture, entertainment, and environments, and used the name 鬼ノ島. It also named new movement actions—ledge jump, roll landing, wall kick, and wall climbing—and a Simple Edit building setting. The listed Battle Pass rewards included Baymax and Godzilla Evolved. These official details provide context for the launch, but they do not turn other rumors into confirmed facts.
Does the confirmed date prove the other leaks were true?
No. Confirmation of the date establishes only that the date was right. Leaked artwork and other content claims need separate verification. In November 2024, Kotaku reported that it could not authenticate promotional art circulating online and that Epic had not then confirmed or denied the images or related rumors. Kotaku’s report on the leaked art illustrates why a correct date should not be treated as proof of every accompanying claim.
