The Football Manager 2024 In-Game Editor is a separate add-on that lets you change supported details in real time while playing Football Manager mode. Before using it, make sure you have the add-on for the same storefront as your game and create a separate backup save. The official listings describe editable player attributes and ability values, staff details, club finances and club reputation—but do not provide a complete click-by-click guide to the controls.
What the FM24 In-Game Editor does
The editor is downloadable content for Football Manager 2024, not a standalone game. Steam describes it as enabling real-time editing of items within Football Manager, including a player’s attribute profile. The official descriptions also list player current and potential ability values, staff details, club finances and club reputation. It is limited to Football Manager mode. Steam’s FM24 In-Game Editor listing and the Epic Games Store listing identify the add-on and its scope.
Check that you have the right add-on
Choose the listing for the storefront where you own Football Manager 2024. Steam lists the editor as downloadable content and requires the Steam version of the base game. Epic lists its own add-on. The store pages reviewed do not establish that an editor bought on one storefront works with a game bought on another, so do not assume purchases transfer between stores.
Back up your save before experimenting
SEGA Support recommends setting up weekly or fortnightly auto-saves and using a new file for each auto-save. That gives you a separate recent save to return to if an edit has an unintended effect. Review SEGA’s Football Manager support guidance for its save recommendations and help destinations.

How to approach editing as a beginner
The official product listings confirm what kinds of details the add-on can edit, but they do not establish a complete FM24-specific sequence of in-game clicks or every setting that may prevent the editor from appearing. Exact controls may depend on your platform and game build, so use the game’s available interface and consult the relevant official help if a control is missing.
- Start with a backed-up save, rather than experimenting in the only copy you intend to keep.
- Find the relevant player, staff member or club in Football Manager mode, then look for the editor controls available in your current game.
- Make a limited change and check the result in the save before making more edits.
- If the editor or an expected control is unavailable, check your storefront, game mode and platform-specific support rather than assuming every version has identical controls.
In-Game Editor vs. Pre-Game Editor
These are separate tools for different stages of play. The In-Game Editor is an add-on for real-time changes within Football Manager. SEGA describes the Pre-Game Editor as a separate tool for modifying the FM database; its installation guidance covers Steam, Epic Games and Microsoft Store. It is not the same add-on and does not follow the same in-save workflow. SEGA’s support page links to its Pre-Game Editor guidance, the Game Manual, The Dugout and SI Community.

On the pitch, redesigned tactics management makes the player roles and team strategies even more prominent. Improvements to rival managers’ AI allow them to adapt their tactics more readily over time.
- FM 2014 features a revamped transfer module where opposing clubs and managers adopt a more realistic approach when making or responding to transfer offers. In addition, a number of new ‘real world’ transfer clauses have been added, such as the facility to loan a player back to the club he’s just been bought from and the option to offer a combination of cash and loan players, as well as new contract clauses such as a sub bench appearance fee. On top of this, the old ‘turn-based’ system of transfer negotiations can now be done two ways, the tried and tested system and a new ‘live’ system, similar to that used in FM’s contract negotiations.
