The original game is available in a restored edition, Forsaken Remastered, from Nightdive Studios. Here’s what the game is, what the remaster adds, and which product to look for.
What is Forsaken?
Forsaken is a 3D first-person shooter first released in 1998 for PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo 64. In its dystopian science-fiction setting, science has gone out of control; the player explores underground tunnels on Earth as a scavenger searching for technology while contending with automated defenses and rival scavengers. Its defining twist is full 360-degree movement through the environments, rather than movement limited to a conventional ground plane. Nightdive Studios’ game description provides the premise and original platform history.

Nightdive lists five primary weapons, nine secondary weapons, 32 levels, and six multiplayer modes for the remaster. The studio also lists multiplayer for up to 16 players; those figures are developer-published specifications, not an independent assessment of current online activity. Nightdive’s feature listing is the source for these counts.

Nightdive describes the restoration as “lovingly restored”; that is the studio’s promotional characterization, not an independent review. Nightdive’s page lists the features and its description of the project.
Where can you play Forsaken Remastered?
Nightdive lists Steam, Xbox, Humble Bundle, and GOG as storefront options for the remaster. Its Steam PC listing requires a 64-bit version of Windows. Is Forsaken the same as Destiny 2: Forsaken?
No. Forsaken is the standalone 1998 shooter. Destiny 2: Forsaken is a separate product associated with Bungie’s online game. The Destiny 2 expansion originally released on September 4, 2018 and began Year 2; its original package included a campaign, activities, new subclasses, and the Year 2 Annual Pass. Those are historical package details, not a current list of what is included in the product sold today. Bungie’s archived expansion guide documents the original release and package.
What does the Destiny 2: Forsaken Pack include?
Bungie currently lists the Forsaken Pack among Destiny 2’s paid content packs. Its pack guide says it provides access to over 20 Forsaken Exotic weapons, The Shattered Throne dungeon, and the Last Wish raid; it also describes three Forsaken Ciphers that can unlock eligible weapons. Steam classifies it as downloadable content requiring the Destiny 2 base game. Check Bungie and your platform’s store for current purchase terms and access details. Bungie’s current content guide, the Forsaken Pack guide, and Steam’s DLC listing describe its classification and contents.

Which Forsaken should you choose?
- For the 1998 shooter: Look for Forsaken Remastered on a listed digital storefront if you want the restored edition. Nightdive documents an original Nintendo 64 release, making a physical N64 copy relevant for collectors; the condition, completeness, authenticity, and current availability of any individual used cartridge listing need to be assessed separately.
- For Destiny 2 content: Look for the Forsaken Pack and confirm that you have access to the Destiny 2 base game and that the pack’s listed activities and weapons match what you want.
