Epic’s documented ways to get them were a limited 2023 Item Shop offer and a promotion tied to buying The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom through the Epic Games Store. Both offers are historical; the official pages do not establish that either is available now.
What is the Ebonheart Battleaxe in Fortnite?
It is not a separate physical axe or a weapon you use in The Elder Scrolls Online. The name refers to two Fortnite cosmetics: the Ebonheart Battleaxe Pickaxe and the Ebonheart Battleaxe Back Bling. Epic lists both in its FAQ about the Necrom promotion, while Bethesda described the items as a Fortnite reward in its July 2023 collaboration announcement.
How could players get the cosmetics?
Epic documented two historical routes. Neither should be treated as an open offer today.
| Route | Historical details | Account and outcome details |
|---|---|---|
| Fortnite Item Shop | Epic says the offer ran from July 20, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET through August 5, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET. | Epic’s FAQ does not establish a current or future return. |
| Epic Games Store purchase of The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom | Epic says the promotional purchase period began July 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. ET. Bethesda’s July 21 announcement said any version of Necrom purchased from Epic qualified. | Epic required players to log into Fortnite with the same Epic Games account used for the qualifying purchase. Bethesda also advised linking ESO and Epic accounts. |
What account setup was required?
For the Epic Games Store promotion, Epic said the Fortnite login had to use the same Epic Games account as the qualifying Necrom purchase. Bethesda’s announcement additionally advised players to link their ESO and Epic Games accounts. Epic said linked console accounts could access the cosmetics on linked platforms.

Can you get the Ebonheart Battleaxe now?
The cited official pages record the 2023 promotion and shop window, but do not confirm a current Item Shop listing or another present-day way to obtain the cosmetics. Check Fortnite’s live Item Shop for any current listing; the historical Necrom offer should not be assumed to grant the items now.
