Atari and FlowPlay announced plans for a social casino game called Atari Casino on March 26, 2014, with a Fall 2014 release forecast. The announcement named Asteroids, Breakout, Centipede and Missile Command, alongside slots, poker and blackjack. The available sources do not confirm that this specific game launched.
What Atari and FlowPlay announced
The companies described Atari Casino as a planned social casino platform, combining Atari game brands with casino-style games. FlowPlay was set to provide backend infrastructure, analytics, payment systems and in-game advertising integrations. Those details describe the announced plan; they do not independently establish the final features of a released product. Atari’s March 26, 2014 announcement said the game was expected in Fall 2014.
Planned brands, games and platforms
| Category | Announced details |
|---|---|
| Atari brands | Asteroids, Breakout, Centipede and Missile Command |
| Casino formats | Slots, poker and blackjack |
| Planned channels | Web, Facebook, iOS and Android |
The partnership announcement also cited a Morgan Stanley estimate that more than 170 million people—2.5 percent of the world’s population—played casino-style social games online each month. That was a historical figure attributed to Morgan Stanley in 2014, not a current market estimate; the underlying study and methodology were not verified.
Did Atari Casino actually launch?
The evidence establishes an announcement and a forecast, not a confirmed release. The announcement was prospective, and contemporaneous GamesBeat reporting described a real-money gambling product as in development and scheduled for late 2014. That reporting documents a plan, not proof that the product became available.
#1 Best Overall
- Casino is developed and published by Atari, Inc., released in 1978.
“Social casino” commonly describes casino-style play in a social or virtual-currency game context. The Atari–FlowPlay announcement does not establish whether a final version used real-money gambling. Nor does the contemporaneous report’s mention of a real-money product verify its availability or release.
What later Atari casino news does—and does not—tell us
In April 2022, Atari announced that it had terminated casino-related license agreements with ICICB, including related hotel and casino licenses, effective April 18, 2022. Atari also said ICICB was not authorized to represent the company. That notice concerned ICICB; it does not establish whether the separate FlowPlay project announced in 2014 launched, continued or ended. Atari’s notice should not be read as a status update on Atari Casino with FlowPlay.

For readers looking for Atari classics, Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 1 is a separate 50-game anthology that includes Centipede. It is not Atari Casino and is not evidence that the announced FlowPlay game was released.
