The G-123 Thermite is a sticky grenade intended for a single armored target: it attaches where it lands, burns, then explodes after a listed 2.9-second fuse. Community reference pages list Tank III penetration, three grenades carried, and an unlock cost of 15 Medals on page 1 of the Democratic Detonation Premium Warbond. These are reference-page values, not a live-client verification.
What the G-123 Thermite does
Unlike a grenade designed to detonate immediately across an area, the Thermite sticks to the surface it hits and deals damage over time before its delayed explosion. That makes its intended role applying damage to a durable, armored target rather than clearing a group quickly.
The Helldivers Wiki reproduces the Armory Description as: “A thermite grenade designed to adhere to surfaces before burning at 2000°C. Capable of burning through some armor.” Check the current in-game localization if you need the wording to match exactly.

The damage figures describe different damage types and timing. Do not simply add the burn and explosion numbers and treat the result as guaranteed damage to every target: the sources do not establish that every component lands on every enemy or that the full listed damage is applied in all situations. The listed values are community-maintained reference data, not an official live armory export.

How to unlock it
- Open the Democratic Detonation Premium Warbond.
- Go to page 1 and spend 15 Medals to unlock the G-123 Thermite, according to the current listings on the Helldivers Wiki and DiversHub.
The Warbond is premium, so access to it is required before purchasing the grenade with Medals. The cited reference pages do not establish whether the listed stats or unlock details have changed in a later game update.

When to use the Thermite
Use it when you can reliably land the grenade on an armored target and can afford the delay before its damage resolves. Its Tank III penetration listing and sticky behavior make it a more specialized choice than a grenade selected for immediate area damage. The 2.9-second listed fuse also means timing and target movement matter: throw when the target is unlikely to move out of the grenade’s effective placement before detonation.
- Best fit: a single durable target whose movement you can predict or constrain.
- Less suitable: a fast-moving target, an urgent threat that needs immediate damage, or a group spread across an area.
- Inventory trade-off: the listed capacity is three, so each throw is a limited resource.
The Helldivers Wiki specifically cautions that the Thermite cannot close Bile Titan holes. Treat that as a limitation reported by that community reference, not as an independently verified official rule.

The Helldivers Wiki history records two relevant balance changes: explosion damage increased to 2,000 in patch 1.001.100 on September 17, 2024, and burn damage increased in patch 1.003.000 on May 13, 2025. That history is useful context when comparing older guides, but it does not confirm that every currently displayed value is unchanged in the latest client. The wiki labels its page with patch 1.007.101; that label was not independently confirmed against official patch notes.

For exact current damage or a decision that depends on a precise patch value, check the live in-game Armory and the current official patch notes. The community pages agree on the headline values—Tank III penetration, a 2.9-second fuse, and capacity three—but agreement between references is not the same as verification against the running game.
