The starter set is designed for 3-on-3 scenarios. Its listed Japanese release date is October 31, 2026; the US official store lists November 1, 2026 as the expected release date.
What is GUNDAM ASSEMBLE?
Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America describes GUNDAM ASSEMBLE as “a competitive miniature tabletop game that uses mobile suits and other units from the Mobile Suit Gundam series as playing pieces.” BANDAI SPIRITS says the miniatures are approximately 5 cm tall. Players assemble and paint them before using them in strategic squad combat that incorporates terrain. These are manufacturer descriptions, not an independent review or a substitute for the game’s rules.
The format brings model-building and painting together with tactical tabletop play. It is a physical game played with miniatures, cards, dice, tokens, a map, and terrain.
What comes in Starter Set 01?
Bandai Namco Entertainment America’s US store listing presents STARTER SET 01 as a complete entry point for 3-on-3 scenarios. It includes six units:

The same listing specifies six unit cards, 18 tactics cards, game tokens, two scenario objective cards, a game map, cardboard terrain, attack dice, a handbook, and two quick-reference guides. Component descriptions can vary by regional listing.
When does it come out?
The dates published by Bandai differ by region, so they should not be read as one worldwide launch date:
| Region/source | Product and date | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Japan — BANDAI SPIRITS announcement | Starter Set 01 and first two expansion packs: October 31, 2026 | Japanese release date stated by the manufacturer. |
| United States — Bandai Namco America store listing | Starter Set 01: November 1, 2026 | Listed as the expected US release date; availability may change. |
BANDAI SPIRITS’ March 4, 2026 launch announcement described an October launch and said the company planned more than 30 items across global regions within a year. That was a company plan, not a guarantee that all products would be available in every region or on the same schedule. The manufacturer has specifically cautioned that later products may not launch worldwide simultaneously.
How do expansions differ from the starter set?
The starter set supplies the listed game components for beginning play. Expansion packs add miniatures and gameplay materials; they are not the same thing as the entry box. In its October 31 Japanese launch announcement, BANDAI SPIRITS listed these first two packs:

|---|---|---|
| EX01 | Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode), Torohachi, Delta Plus | Unit cards, tactics cards, and tokens |
| EX02 | Aerial, Pharact, Darilbalde | Unit cards, tactics cards, and tokens |
Those expansion details and dates are from the Japanese announcement; the source cautions that later regional availability may differ. Choose an expansion based on the units you want and whether you already have the starter’s core components.
Do you need paint or hobby supplies?
The miniatures are intended to be assembled and painted, but the cited product listings do not establish that paint is required to play. BANDAI SPIRITS’ Japanese launch-event announcement included Mr. Hobby GUNDAM ASSEMBLE COLOR paints among event giveaways. Hobby retailer Gundam Planet has said it expects to carry the line and those paints, and plans play opportunities and hand-painting lessons; those are retailer plans, not confirmation of current stock.
