Hades II has six Nocturnal Arms and 24 weapon Aspects, including one hidden fighting style for each weapon. Unlock weapons through the Crossroads’ weapon-selection area, then progress until you can perform the Aspects of Night and Darkness incantation. Afterward, use the weapon-selection interface to reveal and unlock individual Aspects. Exact triggers and material costs can depend on game progression and patches, so follow the requirements displayed in your current game.
What you need to unlock
Weapon access, Aspect access, and Aspect upgrades are separate steps. You first unlock a weapon, then unlock the system that lets you view its Aspects, and then spend materials to unlock or improve individual Aspects.
Supergiant confirmed the Black Coat was the sixth and final main weapon in its October 2024 Olympic Update. The six-weapon roster is Witch’s Staff, Sister Blades, Moonstone Axe, Umbral Flames, Argent Skull, and Black Coat (Xinth). A current independent guide catalogs four Aspects per weapon, for 24 total; that count and roster are guide documentation rather than a complete official requirements list. NeonHades2’s weapon guide says it was verified against Post-Launch Patch 2 – Hotfix 5 on July 28, 2026.
Unlock the six Nocturnal Arms
The Witch’s Staff is the default weapon, according to GameSpot’s September 25, 2025 guide. The other weapons have resource and progression requirements. Some unlock chains depend on having unlocked earlier weapons, and the Argent Skull and Black Coat have prerequisites; the Black Coat’s chain includes the Argent Skull.

Go to the weapon-selection area at the Crossroads and read each weapon’s displayed requirement. Gather the materials it names, meet any prerequisite weapon or progression condition, then interact with the weapon to unlock it. Costs are not reproduced here because a complete current cost list is not established by the available sources and may differ from your patch.
Choose a weapon by feel, not a universal ranking
- Witch’s Staff: quick close-range attacks, longer-range Specials, and Omega moves.
- Sister Blades: fast attacks and ranged Special volleys.
- Moonstone Axe: slower, powerful sweeps.
- Umbral Flames: mobile ranged attacks and orbiting Specials.
- Argent Skull: explosive attacks and Specials that involve retrieving the weapon.
- Black Coat (Xinth): guarding and retaliation alongside seeking Specials.
These are broad combat identities, not performance rankings. Consider whether you prefer close or ranged play, attacks or Specials, and the movement or retrieval demands of a weapon.

Unlock the Aspect system
Supergiant’s June 17, 2025 Unseen Update announcement confirms that “Each main weapon has an all-new fighting style to unlock.” To access the system, progress until the Aspects of Night and Darkness incantation becomes available, then perform it at the Crossroads’ cauldron. The incantation enables Aspect access through the weapon-selection interface.
The exact trigger for receiving the incantation is not firmly established as a fixed checklist. GameSpot reported that it appeared in its playthrough after the writers had unlocked five weapons, used them over multiple runs, and later defeated Hecate, but they could not determine which event caused it. A contemporary independent guide says Hecate provides the recipe. Treat those details as an observed route, not a guarantee that a specific number of weapons, runs, or victories is required.

- Keep progressing through runs and encounters, including visits to Hecate.
- Check the cauldron for Aspects of Night and Darkness when new incantations appear.
- Gather the materials shown in the current recipe and perform the incantation.
- Return to the weapon-selection area and interact with an unlocked weapon to view its Aspect options.
Unlock and upgrade individual Aspects
Once the incantation is complete, select a weapon at the Crossroads to view its available Aspects. Unlocking a specific Aspect and ranking it up are separate material investments. The independent guide lists Aspect ranks up to five, but exact individual names, costs, and hidden-Aspect waking phrases are not sufficiently established here to give a reliable exhaustive checklist.
Use the requirement shown beside the Aspect in your game as the authority for what to collect and do. If a guide’s listed requirement conflicts with the prompt, trust the current in-game display, particularly on a patch newer than the independent guide’s July 28, 2026 verification.

When an expected unlock does not appear
- A weapon is still unavailable: inspect its selection prompt for missing materials or a prerequisite weapon, then continue progressing if the prompt indicates a progression gate.
- The Aspect incantation has not appeared: keep advancing the story and checking the cauldron. The reported five-weapon sequence is an observation, not a confirmed trigger threshold.
- You cannot reveal or buy an Aspect: confirm the incantation has been performed, select the relevant weapon, and read the Aspect’s own requirement. Weapon ownership alone does not automatically unlock every Aspect.
- A cost in a guide does not match: check your game’s displayed requirement; a guide’s patch and verification date may not match your installed version.
