The announcement trailer accompanied news of a physical edition launching with 28 characters from Seasons 1–3. The game is now available, and the Switch edition has since received additional updates.

Arc System Works included the reveal trailer with its August 30, 2024 announcement. The trailer introduced the Switch edition; it was not a new release announcement in 2026.

When did Guilty Gear Strive come to Switch?
The announced release date was January 23, 2025. Arc System Works described the release as a physical Nintendo Switch package with an announcement-era suggested retail price of $59.99. That figure is historical MSRP, not a current price or offer.
What was included in the Switch edition?
Launch roster and story
At launch, the edition included 28 playable characters spanning Seasons 1–3, according to Arc System Works. The publisher also said the main story runs for more than six hours; that is the publisher’s description, not an independently measured playtime.

Modes and play options
The announcement listed online play and these modes: Arcade, Survival, Tutorial, Training, Versus, Ranked Tower, Open Park, Player Match, Combo Maker, GG World, Gallery, and Digital Figure. Arc System Works initially said Digital Figure Mode would arrive after an initial patch, with timing to be determined.
The publisher described play in TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. Its announcement is a feature list, not evidence that every mode or feature has identical technical behavior across platforms.

What changed after launch?
Arc System Works later added content and features through updates. Its December 17, 2025 update notice said a major update was scheduled for December 18 and listed three additional characters, a new Ranked Match mode, training improvements including frame data, battle version 4.09, and Brazilian Portuguese support. It also identified additional music and stages as unsupported on Switch, so the update notice does not establish complete content parity with other platforms.
In a December 26, 2025 producer update, Miyauchi said, “On December 18, Lucy joined the roster in GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- Nintendo Switch Edition, bringing all content updates planned for this year to their completion.” The post also said work had begun on a Version 2.0 update planned for the following year, with details and timing to come later. That was a plan stated in December 2025, not confirmation that Version 2.0 subsequently released.

The publisher’s Switch product page says Queen Dizzy became available to purchasers in a free update and links to Amazon, Nintendo eShop, GameStop, Target, and Best Buy. Those retailer links indicate where the publisher directs shoppers; they do not confirm present stock or price.

Arc System Works said publishing rights for EMEA and Asia, excluding Japan and South Korea, transferred from Bandai Namco Entertainment to Arc System Works effective March 1, 2026. The publisher said the transition would not interrupt save data, purchased DLC, or online play. See its regional publishing update for the stated scope.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the listing is specifically for GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- Nintendo Switch Edition and matches your region.
- Check the retailer’s current price and stock directly; the $59.99 figure was the 2024 announcement MSRP.
- If a particular character, stage, music track, or feature matters to you, check its Switch availability rather than assuming full parity with other versions.
- For online play or purchased DLC in EMEA or covered parts of Asia, Arc System Works said the March 2026 rights transfer would not interrupt those services.
