The change became public in July 2024 when players noticed the updated character listing; HoYoverse had not formally announced it at that point. The available statements do not establish a specific production-side reason.
Who voices Argenti in English now?
The latest cited English cast credit, published with a Honkai: Star Rail trailer on September 6, 2026, lists Talon Warburton as Argenti. That is the credit in that trailer’s cast list, not a guarantee about every future appearance. The reproduced official cast list names Warburton for the role.
Before the change, Argenti’s English voice was credited to Adam Michael Gold. The recast concerns the English-language performance; the contemporaneous report noted that Argenti was voiced in other languages when his English lines were missing. GosuGamers’ July 30, 2024 report documented the changed listing.
When and how did the recast become known?
Players noticed the change in July 2024 after Gold’s name disappeared from Argenti’s official character listing and Warburton’s appeared in its place. At the time, coverage reported no formal HoYoverse announcement of the casting change, which is why it was described as a quiet replacement.

Earlier in the story, Argenti had appeared without English voice lines. HoYoverse reportedly treated those missing lines as a bug. That absence preceded the recast becoming public, but it does not explain why the actors changed.
Why was Argenti’s voice actor replaced?
No detailed, independently established reason for the recast is available in the cited public statements. Gold was reported to have characterized his departure as a “divergence of paths,” a general description rather than a specific explanation.

In a Reddit post dated September 12, 2025, Warburton described the situation as cryptic and said he was unsure how much he could discuss from a contractual standpoint: “I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say about my situation from a contractual standpoint, but what I will say is it was very cryptic from the get go.” This is Warburton’s personal account, not an official explanation from HoYoverse or confirmation of a contract dispute. Warburton acknowledged that recasts can draw mixed reactions, calling them “a bit of a mixed bag and just all around strange situation.” He also described the challenge of following another performer: “When you have to step into the shoes of another actor, you have a unique challenge.” His comments offer his perspective on inheriting the role, not a production-side account of the decision.

Warburton’s post also asked people to avoid cruelty toward actors. Listeners can criticize a casting choice or performance without directing harassment at either Warburton or Gold.
