After Battlefield 6’s August 2025 Open Beta, EA outlined adjustments to gunplay, parachutes, map boundaries, Breakthrough balance, player counts and matchmaking. Some were still plans or work in progress—not confirmed final fixes. Later updates show that balance work continued, including a return to Open Beta aim-assist tuning in November 2025 and proposed vehicle-combat changes for Season 5 in October 2026.
What EA said it would change after the Open Beta
In its August 21, 2025 debrief, EA said it was using player feedback and in-game data to guide changes ahead of Battlefield 6’s October 10, 2025 launch. The announcements varied in certainty: some described adjustments EA said it was making, while others were plans or ongoing work.
More consistent gunplay
EA said it was making targeted weapon adjustments to make gunplay more consistent and rewarding. The debrief did not itemize the specific weapon statistics or individual changes, so it does not support claims about particular guns or values.
More controlled parachutes
EA said it had retuned parachute physics, reducing the initial acceleration when a parachute opens to make movement through the air more controlled.

Work to address rooftops and out-of-bounds routes
EA said it was working on changes to prevent unintended rooftop access and out-of-bounds play. It specifically noted that the Assault ladder was not designed to reach those areas. The debrief described work in progress; it did not establish that every route had been fixed by launch.
Larger maps and testing plans
EA acknowledged player interest in larger maps and said larger-scale maps were already part of the launch package. It also outlined planned Battlefield Labs testing for Mirak Valley and an Operation Firestorm remake. Those testing plans should not be confused with a guarantee about the final form or timing of either map.
Breakthrough balance as a target
EA said it was using Open Beta win/loss data to make map-by-map adjustments to Breakthrough. Its stated aim was a 50/50 win ratio between attackers and defenders. That was a balancing target, not a published result showing that the ratio had been reached.
Player counts tailored to the map and mode
EA said player counts should suit the map and mode rather than be fixed universally. Its planned Breakthrough layouts included both 48-player and 64-player versions. For smaller, faster modes—Team Death Match, Squad Death Match, Domination and King of the Hill—EA said 8v8 was its starting point.

Weapon rules, playlists and matchmaking
EA said both open- and closed-weapon options would remain available. It was also reviewing matchmaking after players struggled to find games for sector-capture challenges. Daily playlist rotation, meanwhile, was a beta testing arrangement—not a launch plan.
What the beta figures do—and do not—show
EA’s August 21 debrief infographic reported 420 million matches, 92 million hours played, 4.9 billion enemies killed and 30.9 million revives. These are figures reported by Electronic Arts for the Open Beta, not independently audited measurements. See EA’s Open Beta debrief.
A separate EA community update gave a more precise total: 92,351,578 hours played during the Open Beta. EA’s two updates report the hours at different levels of precision and do not explain the discrepancy; keep the exact figure attached to the community update rather than treating the numbers as an independently reconciled total. EA’s “Play Your Way” update also said map layout was the main factor in class selection in its beta data, with Support picked more often on the close-quarters Siege of Cairo. That is EA’s interpretation of its data, not a universal rule about how players choose classes.
What changed after launch?
Aim assist returned to Open Beta tuning
On November 17, 2025, EA said it was reverting aim assist to values players had experienced during the Open Beta and Battlefield Labs. The update explained that launch changes had increased slowdown at longer ranges. EA attributed the decision to player feedback and gameplay data; the statement was published by the Battlefield team, not a named individual. Read EA’s aim-assist update.

Season 5 vehicle changes were still proposals in October 2026
In an October 1, 2026 retrospective on the game’s first year, EA described work that included faster progression, balancing land, air and naval combat, and aim-assist tuning closer to the Open Beta feel. It also outlined possible Season 5 changes involving vehicle health regeneration, damage and anti-air systems. EA cautioned that those Season 5 items could be adjusted, delayed or removed after testing and feedback, so they should be described as proposals under exploration rather than shipped changes. The Open Beta debrief is a snapshot of EA’s launch-directed response in August 2025, not a complete changelog or a guarantee that every item reached the game unchanged. The clearest way to distinguish what EA communicated is by status:
- Adjustments EA said it was making: targeted weapon changes and retuned parachute physics.
- Work in progress or plans: preventing unintended rooftop and out-of-bounds access, testing larger-map concepts, and adjusting Breakthrough balance by map.
- Design choices or matchmaking review: player counts tailored to modes and maps, open and closed weapon options, and a review prompted by challenge-related matchmaking difficulties.
- Later balance change: the November 2025 return to Open Beta aim-assist values.
- Still subject to change in October 2026: proposed Season 5 vehicle-combat adjustments.
The beta’s daily playlist rotation belongs to the testing period; it is not evidence of a continuing live playlist schedule. For current live-game behavior, consult dated official updates rather than assuming the beta announcement remains current. EA’s beta playlist notice describes that test arrangement.
