The Horse Flute is a Stardew Valley item that summons your horse to you when you use it outdoors. Buy it from Mr. Qi for 50 Qi Gems; you’ll need a stable and a named horse before it can work.
What the Horse Flute does
Using the Horse Flute brings your horse to your location rather than calling a real-world animal. Stardew Valley’s official 1.5 changelog describes it as an item that “summons your horse when outside.” Official Stardew Valley 1.5 changelog
The flute was introduced in version 1.5. Its sound varies: the item page says one of three sounds is chosen at random each time it is played, so there is no single fixed flute sound.
How to get the Horse Flute
- Build a stable so you have a horse.
- Name the horse. The flute will not work until the horse has been named.
- Unlock Mr. Qi’s Walnut Room and buy the Horse Flute from his shop for 50 Qi Gems. Stardew Valley Wiki: Horse Flute
Where it works—and when it does not
The flute works outdoors, including on Ginger Island and in the Desert. It will not summon the horse indoors. In multiplayer, it also cannot summon a horse while another player is riding it. Stardew Valley Wiki: Horse Flute
