To beat Fourth Chorus in Hollow Knight: Silksong, attack its head with upward Silkspear strikes, keep clear of the lava as the arena changes, then use the Drifter’s Cloak to ride the wind columns and hit the explosive rocks. That environmental finish—not simply landing more attacks—is what ends the fight.
Prepare for the Far Fields fight
Fourth Chorus is a mandatory boss in the lava pits of Far Fields. The Hollow Knight Wiki and PC Gamer’s guides identify the head as the vulnerable target and recommend upward Silkspear attacks. The encounter’s shifting platforms make footing just as important as damage: an attack can open a gap and leave Hornet over lava. [Hollow Knight Wiki] [PC Gamer]
Bring the Drifter’s Cloak. It helps you stay aloft during attacks and is needed for the finishing sequence. The community guide also recommends resting at the bench in the nearby Seamstress chamber and replenishing Silk in a hidden nook if you are running low; these are preparation suggestions, not requirements for a particular build. How to beat Fourth Chorus
-
Target the head when the limbs leave an opening
Use upward Silkspear strikes against the head, but do not attack blindly through the boss’s moving limbs. Wait for a clear path, then return to a safe position. The sources identify the head as the target but do not establish exact attack timing or damage windows. [Hollow Knight Wiki] [PC Gamer]

Adjust your footing after slams and swipes
Watch the floor as Fourth Chorus attacks: its moves change the available platforming space, so check for newly opened gaps before committing to a landing. For a swipe, the Hollow Knight Wiki’s guidance is to let the hand pass or use the cloak to stall in the air. Avoid lingering above a gap, where a mistimed descent can send Hornet into lava. -
Keep fighting after the first stagger
The first stagger is not the end. PC Gamer’s guide reports that Fourth Chorus resumes its earlier attacks more quickly, combines them, and adds a ranged attack. Reassess the arena and wait for openings rather than assuming the old rhythm will hold. [PC Gamer]

Finish the fight with the wind columns
After you have dealt enough damage, two wind columns appear. Use the Drifter’s Cloak to ride them upward, then strike the explosive rocks at the top. Hitting both triggers a large falling rock that defeats Fourth Chorus. [PC Gamer]
Should you play aggressively or prioritize safety?
Focus on the head whenever its limbs leave a clear attack path, but favor safe footing when the arena changes. The available guides recommend head-focused damage; they do not compare aggressive and cautious approaches or report a tested damage or timing advantage for either. Staying alive also gives you the chance to use the wind-column finisher once it appears.
