The fastest way to get a Mandrake in Hogwarts Legacy is to buy one at Dogweed and Deathcap, at the north end of Hogsmeade. For a renewable supply, buy Mandrake seeds from the shop and grow them at a potting table. You can also search the Forbidden Forest, though buying one is more straightforward.
Buy a Mandrake in Hogsmeade
- Open the Hogsmeade map and find Dogweed and Deathcap near the northern end of the village.
- Visit the shop and speak to the shopkeeper.
- Buy a Mandrake if you need the plant right away.
Dogweed and Deathcap is the most direct, reliable option described by gameplay guides. Its exact price and stock are not established here, so check the shop’s current inventory in your game. PC Gamer; GamesRadar+; Prima Games.

Grow Mandrakes from seeds
For another way to replenish your supply, buy Mandrake seeds at Dogweed and Deathcap, then plant them at a potting table. GamesRadar+ reports that a small pot is sufficient to get started. This route requires access to a potting table and time for the plant to grow; the guides cited here do not establish an exact growth duration.
Look for Mandrakes in the Forbidden Forest
PC Gamer reports that Mandrakes can be found in the Forbidden Forest. Searching is an alternative if you prefer exploring, but it is less straightforward than buying one at the Hogsmeade shop. Prima Games also mentions roaming vendors; their inventory may be limited or inconsistent, so treat them as a backup rather than a dependable source.

Using a Mandrake for an assignment or in combat
Mandrakes are used in Herbology assignments and can stun nearby enemies. If an assignment asks you to use a Mandrake, acquiring one is not necessarily enough: follow the objective wording and use the plant as directed, including against enemies if the prompt requires it. PC Gamer covers both assignment and combat uses.
