If that does not help, report the issue through the official Hogwarts Legacy bug-report site or contact WB Games support. These are troubleshooting steps, not a guaranteed fix; the available official guidance does not identify one cause for every crash.
1. Note when the crash happens and any error code
Before changing anything, note whether Hogwarts Legacy crashes on launch, during loading, or in a particular area. Write down any on-screen error code and whether other games are affected. These details can help make a bug report reproducible; they are not a separate fix prescribed by WB Games.
2. Delete and reinstall Hogwarts Legacy
WB Games’ PS5-specific troubleshooting advice is to delete Hogwarts Legacy and reinstall it. On the PS5 home screen, highlight the game, press the Options button on the controller, and choose Delete.

After deleting the installed game, reinsert the game disc to reinstall it. The publisher’s instructions are available in its console crash troubleshooting guide.

Download the game again from your PS5 Game Library. WB Games gives the physical-disc and digital-download paths as the reinstall options.
3. If it still crashes, report it to WB Games
Search the official Hogwarts Legacy bug-reporting site for an entry that matches your symptoms. If one exists, add useful details—such as when the crash occurs and what steps reproduce it—and, if helpful, attach a screenshot or video. If you cannot find a matching report, create one. WB Games also offers a customer-service request form for individual assistance. The publisher recommends these routes when the issue persists after reinstalling.

4. Use PlayStation’s instructions for your exact error code
Do not assume every Hogwarts Legacy crash has the same cause. Check the PlayStation Support page for the code displayed by your console and follow the steps for that code. PlayStation describes CE-108255-1 as “An error occurred with the game/application”; that general description does not, by itself, identify why the error happened.
For CE-117740-0
PlayStation’s steps for CE-117740-0 are to update system software, delete and reinstall the game, rebuild the database from Safe Mode, and contact support if the issue remains.

For CE-109573-5, PlayStation lists restarting the console, deleting and reinstalling the game, rebuilding the database, and updating system software if needed. Use these directions only if your code matches; they are not a general diagnosis for crashes with other codes.

Hogwarts Legacy offers Fidelity, Fidelity with ray tracing, Performance, Balanced, and HFR Performance modes on PS5. WB Games says Balanced and HFR Performance require a supported output device. Its graphics information describes Fidelity as prioritizing resolution and graphics quality, with a 30 fps target, and Performance as prioritizing frame rate, with a 60 fps target. The available official guidance does not establish switching modes as a fix for crashing. If you have observed that crashes repeatedly happen in one mode, trying another can help you check whether the pattern changes, but treat that as an experiment rather than a guaranteed remedy. WB Games documents a separate “PERFORMANCE MODE SET TO DEFAULT” message caused by a conflict between PS5 Game Presets and the in-game choice; that settings warning is not evidence that a graphics mode causes crashes.
