How many people played Silksong on Steam?
The answer depends on when the figure was recorded. Each number below is a concurrent-player count: how many people were playing at the same time, not total players, copies sold, or a count across every platform.

The figures describe different moments, so the September 5 snapshot and the September 6 peak do not conflict. The 587,150 figure is the best available answer for Silksong’s eventual historical Steam peak; it is not a live player count.
When did Silksong launch on Steam?
Steam lists September 4, 2025 as the release date. SteamDB records the Steam release timestamp as 14:00:10 UTC that day. The first-four-hours player report and the following days’ chart observations are snapshots from that launch period, not ongoing measurements.

The Steam listing identifies Hollow Knight: Silksong as a single-player game by Team Cherry. Concurrent-player figures count simultaneous Steam activity only; they do not establish sales, total people who have played, or activity on other platforms.
Did Silksong crash Steam or the Nintendo eShop?
Launch-day coverage reported storefront problems affecting Steam and the Nintendo eShop as demand surged. Tom’s Hardware described the access issues alongside its September 5 report of 535,213 concurrent Steam players. This supports saying there were reported storefront disruptions; it does not establish that Valve officially classified the event as a Steam crash.

The launch-year story is now historical: the dated SteamDB peak remains the relevant high-water mark in these sources. Team Cherry later said the launch year was ending and previewed a Silksong expansion for 2026 in an official blog update. That was a plan announced by the developer, not a guarantee of delivery, and it does not change the launch-period player counts.
