To cross The Mist in Hollow Knight: Silksong, play the Needolin near the Silk Flies in each maze room, then follow the direction they take to the correct exit. The route can reset if you choose the wrong exit or fall into the fog, so repeat the cue room by room instead of guessing. The Mist has approaches from both Bilewater and Sinner’s Road; your entrance affects how you join the Exhaust Organ route.
Choose your entrance to The Mist
You can reach The Mist from Bilewater or Sinner’s Road. Choose based on where Hornet is now and which side of the Exhaust Organ you need to reach. Available route information does not establish one entrance as generally faster or easier.

How to get through The Mist
The Mist is a maze rather than a straightforward corridor: rooms have multiple exits, and the Silk Flies provide the navigation clue. Use the same method in each room.
- Find the Silk Flies. Look for them before committing to an exit.
- Stand close and play the Needolin. Give the cue a moment to take effect.
- Watch which way the flies move. Follow them toward the exit they indicate.
- Repeat in the next room. Do not assume that a direction from one room applies to the next.
- Cross platforms carefully. Keep clear of the fog below, which can send you back toward the start.
If Hornet is returned to the beginning, you have not necessarily missed a permanent route change: a wrong exit or a fall can reset the crossing. Start using the Needolin cue again rather than trying to memorize a guessed sequence.

Watch for Wraiths
Wraiths add danger while you navigate and can threaten your Silk. Avoid spending Silk carelessly during the maze; prioritize staying alive and following the flies over rushing through a platform section.
Continue through the Exhaust Organ
Once out of The Mist, continue along the Exhaust Organ route and use the reported bench/checkpoint when you reach it. That checkpoint can reduce the cost of a later failure by keeping you from having to repeat the maze. The route continues toward Phantom.
