Appeal an eligible Epic Games sanction through Epic’s Sanctions and Appeals Portal. Sign in to the Epic account that received the sanction, review the case using its Sanction ID, and submit an appeal only if the portal offers that option. Epic allows one appeal per eligible sanction, and the deadline is case-specific.
Steps to appeal an Epic Games ban
- Open Epic’s Sanctions and Appeals Portal. Use the official Sanctions and Appeals Portal, not a third-party “unban” service.
- Sign in to the affected Epic account. Confirm you are using the account that received the sanction. If the portal shows no matching case, check that you have not signed in to a different account.
- Find the sanction details and Sanction ID. Check the email address associated with your Epic account for the sanction notice. Note the Sanction ID, the sanction type, the stated reason, its duration, and the appeal deadline. For a Fortnite communication restriction, Epic says the details may also appear in-game the next time you sign in if no email arrived.
- Review the case in the portal. Enter the Sanction ID when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions. The exact fields and steps can vary by sanction type.
- Submit one clear, accurate appeal if the sanction is eligible. Explain why you believe the decision was mistaken and provide relevant information requested by the portal. Check your account of events and details before submitting: Epic states that each eligible sanction can be appealed once.
- Check the portal and your email for the result. Epic says the appeal is reviewed by a human moderator, and the result is sent by email. The portal can show appeal status; Epic does not publish a standard decision time.
Check eligibility and the appeal deadline
Not every sanction is appealable. Epic’s Sanctions and Appeals policy says an appeal may be submitted during the sanction unless a longer period is required by law, and the notice explains how long you have to appeal. Treat the deadline in your own notice and the options displayed in the portal as authoritative; there is no universal appeal window established for every case.

If the portal does not offer an appeal for the sanction, the published process does not provide a way to submit one for that case. Do not assume that contacting ordinary Player Support will create an appeal or extend the deadline.
Identify which kind of sanction you received
“Ban” can describe different actions. Epic’s policy lists social bans, product bans, account bans, Fortnite matchmaking bans, and restrictions involving LEGO Fortnite Odyssey worlds or multiplayer. Read the notice to determine what access is restricted and which rule Epic says was violated; an account ban is not a catch-all name for every sanction.

- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
For Fortnite specifically, Epic Player Support says a temporary player ban can last up to 365 days, while a permanent ban is indefinite. That duration information applies to Fortnite player bans, not every Epic product or sanction. A Fortnite ban does not necessarily prevent you from playing other Epic Games Store games.
Depending on the type and severity of a sanction, access to a game, service, virtual items, or account balances may be affected. Epic’s Terms of Service say termination can end rights to licensed products and in-game content. Check the sanction notice and terms that apply to your case rather than assuming every Fortnite ban removes all purchases.

What can happen after an appeal?
Epic says a human moderator reviews the appeal. The sanction may be upheld, lifted if it was applied incorrectly, or modified. Submitting an appeal does not guarantee reinstatement, and Epic’s published policy does not promise a success rate, a standard review time, or a particular evidence checklist. Give a straightforward account and include only relevant, accurate information requested in the process.
Why ordinary support and ban-evasion attempts are not substitutes
Epic Player Support says it cannot review or appeal a Fortnite ban on a player’s behalf; use the Sanctions and Appeals Portal for the formal appeal. Epic’s Terms of Service also say a permanently banned user may not evade the ban by creating a new Epic account. Do not pay a third party claiming it can guarantee an unban or use a new account to get around a permanent ban.

Where EU dispute resolution may apply
Epic’s sanctions policy notes that users in the EU may have access to certified out-of-court dispute resolution for some Epic services. This is a limited route, not a universal appeal option; availability depends on the service and the user’s eligibility. Review the policy and your case details to determine whether it applies.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
